Vote: Who should be SBLive’s Central Florida Boys Basketball Player of the Week (1/29/2024)?

We’ve selected 22 candidates for your voting consideration

Central Florida high school boys’ basketball players are amping up for the postseason with some big-time January performances.

We looked at teams from Orange, Osceola, Lake, Seminole, Volusia, Brevard, and Indian River counties and nominated 22 athletes for the SBLive Central Florida Boys Basketball Player of the Week for Jan. 22-27, 2024.

We ask you, the fan, to decide who should the top player selected. Voting will conclude on Sunday, Feb. 4, at 11:59pm and will be announced in next week’s poll.

Editor’s note: Our corresponding poll is intended to be fun, and we do not set limits on how many times a fan can vote during the competition. The poll is specifically for fans to vote on the players that have been nominated and in no way discredits any other player that may not be mentioned in our poll.

Here are this week's nominees:

Liam McNeely, Guard, Montverde Academy: The 6-foot-8 senior from Richardson, Texas, scored 19 points to lead the unbeaten Eagles (22-0) to a hard-fought 78-72 victory against Prolific Prep (Calif.) in the championship game of the 2024 MAIT (Montverde Academy Invitational Tournament). He also was named the event’s Most Valuable Player.

Tyler Johnson, Wing, Oak Ridge (Orlando): The 6-5 senior recorded 20 points, nine rebounds and five assists to lead the Pioneers past Brewster Academy (N.H.), 67-58, in the MAIT event. He also had 19 points and seven rebounds in a 97-66 loss to national power Montverde, and had 16 points and nine rebounds in a 78-64 victory against The Rock (Gainesville).

Josiah Shackelford, Shooting Guard, Seminole (Sanford): Talented 6-4 senior scored 27 points to lead the Seminoles past Central Florida Christian Academy, 64-56.

Cameron Bryant, Guard/Wing, Oviedo: The 6-6 junior notched 15 points, seven rebounds and two assists to lead the Lions past Wekiva (Apopka), 54-46.

Cameron Basden, Small Forward/Shooting Guard, Foundation Academy (Winter Garden): Senior exploded for 30 points to lead the Lions past Lake Worth Christian, 67-59. He also recorded 23 points and 15 rebounds for a double-double in an 81-69 victory against The Master’s Academy (Oviedo).

Dylan Labuhn, Shooting Guard, The Master’s Academy (Oviedo): The 6-3 senior scored 28 points to lead the Eagles past Cypress Creek (Orlando), 79-53. He also had 20 points in a loss to Foundation Academy.

RJ Ingram, Guard, Lake Highland Prep (Orlando): Super sophomore turned in another stellar game for the Highlanders with 21 points and three steals in a 54-42 victory against Windermere Prep. He also had 12 points and six rebounds in a 60-54 win against Dr. Phillips (Orlando).

Chalier Torres, Guard, Windermere: The 6-4 senior notched 21 points, seven rebounds and four assists to lead the Wolverines past South Lake (Groveland), 68-44.

Isaiah Pina, Power Forward/Center, South Lake (Groveland): The 6-6 sophomore scored 20 points in a loss to Windemere.

Caden Douglass, Power Forward/Small Forward/Shooting Guard, Hagerty (Oviedo): Senior poured in 30 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for a double-double to lead the Huskies past Lake Mary, 72-64.

Derek Lopez, Guard, Southland Christian (Kissimmee): The 6-2 senior recorded 20 points and five rebounds to lead the Flames past Foundation Academy (Winter Garden), 65-64.

Adonys Christo, Guard, Horizon (Winter Garden): Senior turned in another stellar effort with 28 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double in a 58-47 win against Lake Mary Prep.

Brandon Bass Jr., Shooting Guard, Windermere Prep: Sophomore exploded for 24 points and six rebounds to lead the Lakers past Holy Trinity Episcopal (Melbourne), 67-56.

Princeton Gordon, Power Forward/Center, Lake Brantley (Altamonte Springs): The 6-6 junior pumped in 22 points to lead the Patriots past Mount Dora Christian, 55-42.

Jeremias Berchal, Guard, Lake Mary: The 6-1 senior poured in 20 points to lead the Rams past Bishop Moore (Orlando), 70-63.

Cam Codio, Guard, Bishop Moore (Orlando): Senior scored 24 points in a loss to Lake Mary.

Jude Angervil, Forward, Apopka: The 6-4 junior exploded for 25 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double in a 59-57 win against Eustis.

Nathan Kirk, Point Guard, Mainland (Daytona Beach): Sophomore star erupted for 26 points and six rebounds to lead the Bucs past New Smyrna Beach, 61-42, and repeat as Five Star Conference champs. He also had 25 points and 11 rebounds in a 77-52 victory against Atlantic (Port Orange).

Josh Reik, Guard, New Smyrna Beach: Senior scored 23 points in a win against Deltona. He also had 21 points in a win against DeLand.

Zeke Aime, Guard/Wing, Palm Bay: Senior scored 19 points, including the tying shot in regulation, to lead the Pirates to a 77-69 overtime victory against Rockledge in the Cape Coast Conference Tournament championship game.

Ryan Blount, Guard/Forward, Rockledge: Star senior poured in a game-high 29 points in a 77-69 loss to Palm Bay.

Will Holderman, Guard, Vero Beach: Recorded 21 points, two rebounds, two assists and five steals in a 75-35 victory against St. Edward’s (Vero Beach).
