Hylton Stubbs earns Polynesian Bowl invite, discusses spring visit plans

Mandarin (Florida) elite safety Hylton Stubbs has a busy spring visit schedule

Class of 2025 Mandarin (Florida) star Hylton Stubbs is one of the top safeties in America.

Unsurprisingly, his list of suitors continues to grow.

So far, the 6-foot-2, 180-pound defensive back has accumulated 30 scholarship offers - and picked up a big honor this week, as he accepted a Polynesian Bowl invitation.

"I am elated to be selected," Stubbs said. "I’ve always wanted to go to Hawaii."

Before that, however, the Florida defensive back has a slew of spring visits to take.

"I plan on visiting Florida State, Miami, Florida, USC, Texas A&M, Clemson and Penn State right now," he said. "The schedule isn’t complete yet."

He hopes those visits go a long way in informing his eventual decision and help him trim down his options.

"These visits will tell a lot for me," Stubbs said. "Some schools I like the people a lot and some schools I like the football program a lot. So, I have to find a balance of both  when picking a school."

Rated the nation's No. 49 overall prospect and No. 4 safety, it should come as no surprise that all three of the big-time Florida football programs are heavily recruiting Stubbs.

He gave his early thoughts on each program.

Florida: "I’ve always liked (Florida), and when I camp there I always have a great performance. Coach (Will) Harris and Coach (Austin) Armstrong call or text me everyday. I think (Florida) will be back very soon, and I think (D.J.) Lagway is going to be really good."

Florida State: "Coach (Mike) Norvell is putting a winning program together. They will have a lot of players get drafted this year and my brother is a (defensive back there."

Miami: "They show a lot of love. Send mail, calls, emails... and they have two safeties about to get drafted."

As a junior, Stubbs registered 97 tackles, eight tackles-for-loss, six interceptions, two forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries.
