Vote: Who should be SBLive’s Central Florida Girls Basketball Player of the Week (2/26/2024)?

Central Florida girls’ basketball players pointed their way to some winning performances last week as regional playoff games continued.

We looked at teams from Orange, Osceola, Lake, Seminole, Volusia, Brevard, and Indian River counties and nominated 17 athletes for the SBLive Central Florida Girls Basketball Player of the Week for Feb. 19-24, 2024.

We ask you, the fan, to decide who should the top player selected. Voting will conclude on Sunday, March 3, at 11:59pm and will be announced in next week’s poll.

Here are this week's nominees:

Bri Rivera, Shooting guard, Lake Highland Prep (Orlando): Senior poured in 18 points to lead the Highlanders past Palm Bay and into the Class 4A Final Four for the fifth consecutive year. Earlier, she had 21 points in an 80-44 victory against rival Bishop Moore (Orlando).

Jasmynee Gibson, Small Forward, Colonial (Orlando): The 6-foot senior exploded for 15 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double and added two steals to lift the Grenadiers past Lake Mary, 60-23, and into the Class 7A Final Four.

Carmen Richardson, Combo Guard, Colonial (Orlando): Senior recorded 15 points, five rebounds, six assists and two steals in a regional final win against Lake Mary.

Kendall Perry, Combo Guard, Dr. Phillips (Orlando): Sophomore broke loose for 21 points, five rebounds and five assists to lift the Panthers past Oak Ridge (Orlando), 58-51, and into the Class 7A Final Four.

Trinity Turner, Point Guard, Dr. Phillips (Orlando): Talented senior broke loose for 18 points, eight rebounds, six assists, five steals and two blocked shots in a 73-29 regional semifinal win against Centennial (Port St. Lucie).

Zaharia Jones, Forward, Oak Ridge (Orlando): The 6-0 senior erupted for a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds and added two assists and three steals in a regional playoff loss to Dr. Phillips (Orlando).

Zora Jackson, Point Guard, Oak Ridge (Orlando): Junior turned in a stellar game against Palm Beach Gardens, recording 16 points, nine rebounds, three assists and four steals in a 45-38 regional playoff win.

Tierra Coleman, Guard, Wekiva: Star senior exploded for 25 points and five rebounds to lead the Mustangs past St. Cloud, 66-58, in a Class 6A regional semifinal. She then recorded 12 points and five rebounds in a 57-29 victory against Horizon (Winter Garden).

Senaia Asanya, Power Forward/Center, Wekiva (Apopka): Sensational 6-1 sophomore recorded 16 points and 15 rebounds for a double-double and added four steals in a Class 6A regional final win against Horizon (Winter Garden).

Janiya Swift, Combo Guard, Central Florida Christian Academy (Ocoee): Fantastic freshman erupted for 17 points, two rebounds, two assists and two steals to lift the Eagles past North Tampa Christian, 47-29, and into the Class 2A Final Four. Earlier, she had 12 points, four rebounds, six assists and two steals in a 68-37 victory against Seven Rivers Christian (Lecanto).

Trinity Harden, Combo Guard, Central Florida Christian Academy (Ocoee): Senior recorded 20 points, eight rebounds, two assists and five steals in a Class 2A regional playoff win against Seven Rivers Christian (Lecanto).

Anovia Sheals, Forward, Mainland (Daytona Beach): Senior turned in a stellar game with 18 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double in a 52-42 Class 5A regional playoff win against Tallahassee Rickards.

Dakara Merthie, Combo Guard, Lake Mary: Star sophomore exploded for 29 points, three rebounds and five steals in a 51-39 Class 7A regional playoff victory against Hagerty (Oviedo).

Kylee Kitts, Forward, Hagerty (Oviedo): The 6-2 senior scored 20 points in a regional playoff loss to Lake Mary.

Ariyana Hester, Shooting Guard, Leesburg: Junior poured in 26 points in a 61-33 regional playoff victory against Spoto (Riverview).

Zoe Corjay, Combo Guard, Horizon (Winter Garden): Sophomore recorded 17 points and two assists in a 57-40 regional playoff win against Martin County (Stuart).

Vivian Iwuchukwu, Forward, Montverde Academy: The 6-4 senior from Nigeria scored 19 points in a 65-62 loss to DME Academy.
