Pembroke Pines overpowers Ponte Vedra in FHSAA 6A boys basketball semifinals
LAKELAND, FLORIDA – Pembroke Pines Charter punched its ticket into Saturday's FHSAA Class 6A boys basketball state championship game, Thursday, with an impressive semifinal 61-34 victory over Ponte Vedra at Lakeland's RP Funding Center.
The Jaguars were led in their semifinal victory by 39 combined points from Josh Harris and Jeremy Elyzee. PPC will now face Edgewater in Saturday's final which is schedule for 3:00 p.m. at the R.P. Funding Center. Edgewater advanced with a 44-34 win over Charlotte in Thursday's other semifinal.
Pembroke Pines Charter dominated in nearly every facet of the game and led the entire way. The Jaguars forced 19 turnover, held a 50-20 scoring edge in the paint and dominated the Sharks, 25-4, in second chance points.
Harris scored a game-high 20 points and complete a double-double with 12 rebounds. He also added an assist, 3 steals and 2 blocks.
Elyzee finished with 19 points and 6 rebounds, as well as 3 assists, 2 steals and a block. Ramez Zayed also scored in double-figures for PPC with 13 points to go with 7 rebounds and 5 steals.
Josh Harris led Pembroke Pines Charter into the FHSAA Class 6A state championship game with a 20-point, 12-rebound effort in the Jaguars' 61-34 rout of Ponte Vedra.
