THREE TO SEE

Byron Cardwell, running back

His breakout sophomore season included 1,521 all-purpose
yards and 15 touchdowns with offers from USC, UCLA and five others arriving
shortly after.

Michael Ambagtsheer, tight end

The two-way star caught six touchdown passes last season
while also recording 4.5 sacks. He’s closing in on 20 offers from schools
across the county.

Tyson McWilliams, cornerback

One of the county’s top corners, McWilliams has seven career interceptions while also being a top target at wide receiver. Nebraska, Iowa State, and San Diego State are among his double digit offer list.

OUTLOOK

In what may be the most experienced team in San Diego, the Saints return 18 starters from last year’s team that beat Helix in the CIF D-1 Championship before falling to eventual state champion Grace Brethren in the D2-AA Regional Finals.

With 80-percent of their total yards returning plus a deep postseason run under their belts, the Saints offense should be even better in 2019.

The Holy Bowl matchup versus Cathedral Catholic in October will likely determine a Western League Title, and could also be a preview of the Open Division Championship.
