Here are 10 candidates for your voting consideration

The high school baseball season is underway in Georgia, which makes it the perfect time to take a look at the best senior pitchers in the state.

There is not shortage of talent and building a list of nominees is difficult, but we've narrowed the list of Best Senior Baseball Pitchers in Georgia to 10 players on whom you can vote.

Voting will end on March 22, 2024 at 11:59.

Here are the nominees:

Connor Shouse, Pickens County

Shouse is an exceptional player in all aspects of the game. Standing at 6-foot-1, 185 pounds, he has an athletic frame and moves well, running a 6.71 in the sixty. He has an electric arm, throwing 98 across the infield and 99 from the outfield, but the velo is most impressive on the mound. Shouse has had pitches reach 98 mph and can consistently touch the zone with 95-96 mph. He also mixes in a low 80’s slider and a changeup to keep hitters at bay. At the plate he has a swing that when it connects, you most likely won’t see the ball anymore. Shouse is committed to Georgia Tech.

Tate Strickland, Harrison

Harrison’s ace would also be the ace for thousands of other schools throughout the country. The 6-foot-3 right-hander has a fastball that isn’t touched often. It is in the high 90’s and is complimented by a deceptive power curve that dips to the low 80’s. He also throws a two-seamer that gets up to high 80’s and a slider to keep hitters guessing. After Strickland is done dealing at Harrison, he will take his talents to the University of Tennessee.

Nate Taylor, Buford

Taylor is and has been a dominant pitcher every time he steps on the mound. He challenges hitters with a fastball in the mid-high 90’s and does a great job at staying out of hitter’s counts while commanding the zone. He throws a slider and changeup in the low 80’s to throw hitters off. After this season, Buford’s current ace will be heading to UGA to turn up the heat on the mound in Athens.

Jackson Barberi, Brookwood

Barberi stands tall at 6-foot-4 and his large frame is a great pitcher’s build. He has a good fastball that has gotten up to 95 mph with a good sweeping slider in the low 80’s. On top of being one of the best pitchers in the state, Barberi is great at the plate with significant power, especially to his pull side, and great bat speed. But the University of Florida will definitely want him for his prowess on the mound over any of his other spectacular attributes.

Clinton Harris, Brookwood

Harris is another great arm that Brookwood has the luxury of having. He has a good fastball that he consistently blows by hitters. His fastball sits around 93-95 and on multiple occasions he has gone multiple innings without his fastball dropping below 93 mph. He mixes hitters up with a good breaking ball in the high 70’s. Harris is an Auburn commit.

Thorpe Musci, Parkview

Musci has been a consistent bright spot in Parkview’s rotation through the years. He is coming off a great junior season in which he had a 10-1 record, 2.23 ERA, and 99 strikeouts. He is looking to light it up again this year, with a fastball that sits around 91-93 mph and a good changeup to throw in the mix. Musci is a Georgia Tech commit.

Owen Hancock, Worth County

Standing at 6-foot-4, Hancock looks massive on the mound and with his arsenal of pitches he is a nightmare for opposing batters. He makes it look easy while pitching. He stays around 92-94 mph with his fastball which has a ton of sink to it. He also throws a good slider and a changeup. Hancock is an Ole Miss commit.

Cole Royer, Pierce County

Royer stands at 6-feet-6 and has a big arm. He has a live fastball that has gotten up to 95 mph and he mixes in a good breaking ball that has made hitters look foolish. His size and long arms make his pitches look deceptively faster. Royer is a Georgia Tech commit.

Asher Sabom, North Cobb Christian

Sabom may have one of the nastiest sinker/slider combos out there to go along with a fastball that has topped out at 93 mph. The UGA commit is something special on the mound and fills up the strikeouts in a box score. He is coming off an outing in which he went six innings, throwing 66 pitches and striking out 12 batters while only allowing one hit.

Alex Hernandez, Forsyth Central

Hernandez stands at 6-feet-2 and weighs 200 pounds. He is a great athlete. On the mound he has a good three-pitch mix, including a fastball that sits at 91-92 mph, a tight curveball in the mid 70’s and a good changeup in the mid 80’s. In his junior season he had a 7-1 record in 11 appearances with a 1.28 ERA. At the plate the ball just jumps off his bat, with triple digit exit velocity to his pull side. Hernandez is a Georgia Tech commit.

Tyler Bayer, South Forsyth

South Forsyth’s ace has a strong arm on the mound, he has a fastball that has hit 93 mph. He has good location on his pitches and generates a lot of swing and misses with a low 80’s slider and changeup. Bayer is a Kennesaw State commit.
