SBLive Illinois high school boys basketball Power 25 rankings (Feb. 7): Rolling Meadows moves into Top 10

Simeon dropped its second game in two weeks, but holds onto the top spot. Five of the top nine teams play in the Public League quarterfinals, hoping to keep alive their hopes for a berth in Saturday's city title game at UIC's Credit Union 1 Arena.

Here's a look at the SBLive Illinois Power 25 (with records through Feb. 5):

1. Simeon (23-3)

Last week: 1

The Wolverines beat Catalyst-Maria 81-43 and Clark 78-41 in the first two rounds of the Public League playoffs before losing 56-46 to St. Louis Vashon. They host North Lawndale on Tuesday in the city quarterfinals.

2. Benet (25-1)

Last week: 2

The Redwings' winning streak is at nine after beating Niles Notre Dame 53-46 and Marian Catholic 57-49.

3. Kenwood (21-5)

Last week: 3

The Broncos beat Corliss 112-33 and Lane 76-44 to open the Public League playoffs. They host Phillips in Tuesday's quarterfinals.

4. Young (21-5)

Last week: 4

The Dolphins advanced to the Public League quarterfinals by beating Amundsen 66-36 and Brooks 79-48. They host No. 8 Curie in Tuesday's quarterfinals.

5. Joliet West (22-5)

Last week: 5

The Tigers beat Indiana power Indianapolis Cathedral 60-56 at the Bank of O'Fallon Shootout for their seventh straight win. They also knocked off 19-10 Romeoville 72-61 and Plainfield East 74-30.

6. Moline (24-3)

Last week: 6

The Maroons knocked off 20-4 Quincy for the second time this season, 57-46, and also beat Bloomington 81-53.

7. Hillcrest (25-2)

Last week: 7

The Hawks have won 10 in a row after beating Richards 80-42. They are at 17-5 T.F. North on Thursday.

8. Curie (18-9)

Last week: 8

The Condors advanced to the Public League quarterfinals by beating Ag. Science 57-44 and picking up a forfeit against Lincoln Park, which was sanctioned by Chicago Public Schools officials for an incident in its second-round game against Perspectives-MSA. Curie plays at No. 4 Young in Tuesday's quarterfinals.

9. Hyde Park (22-5)

Last week: 10

The Thunderbirds won their first two Public League playoff games, 75-67 over Bogan and 45-32 over Farragut. Up next is 19-10 Perspectives-Leadership -- which won the teams' first two meetings this season -- at home on Tuesday.

10. Rolling Meadows (24-4)

Last week: 11

The Mustangs beat Buffalo Grove 81-36, Wheeling 68-37 and 21-5 Libertyville 69-43. They're at No. 11 Glenbrook North on Tuesday.

11. Glenbrook North (23-3)

Last week: 12

The Spartans avenged an earlier loss by beating district rival Glenbrook South 73-66 and also knocked off Maine South 69-46. They host No, 10 Rolling Meadows on Tuesday.

12. Downers Grove North (23-3)

Last week: 13

The Trojans pushed their winning streak to 10 games by beating No. 15 Lyons 54-47, rolling past Proviso West 73-42 and knocking off 20-8 Glenbrook South 54-43 at Northwestern's Welsh-Ryan Arena.

13. Bolingbrook (21-6)

Last week: 15

The Raiders have won five in a row. They beat Homewood-Flossmoor 68-61 and knocked off No. 21 Lincoln-Way East for the second time this season, 65-62. They're at 21-7 Neuqua Valley on Tuesday.

14. Hinsdale Central (24-3)

Last week: 19

The Red Devils have won 16 in a row after victories over Oak Park-River Forest (69-54) and Plainfield East (70-65). They host 16-9 Prospect on Tuesday.

15. Lyons (21-4)

Last week: 14

The Lions lost 54-47 to No. 12 Downers Grove North and beat York 71-66.

16. New Trier (25-4)

Last week: 21

The Trevians have won seven in a row after beating Niles West 71-47, North Chicago 78-59, Evanston 57-55 and Lakeside Lutheran (Wis.) 63-59. They host No. 11 Glenbrook North on Friday.

17. Proviso East (19-6)

Last week: 17

The Pirates beat Berwyn-Cicero Morton 68-64, fell 77-69 to Indiana power Hammond Central, topped Hinsdale South 72-64 and defeated Bloom 64-55.

18. Brother Rice (24-4)

Last week: 9

The Crusaders beat De La Salle 71-50 and No. 23 Mount Carmel 63-57 before falling to 22-6 Lemont 73-57 at Evergreen Park.

19. Metamora (24-2)

Last week: 18

The Redbirds beat Pekin 53-41 and Peoria Notre Dame 68-45, extending their winning streak to 22 games.

20. St. Rita (16-10)

Last week: 22

The Mustangs beat Providence 67-36 and Fenwick 49-41. They host 20-8 Loyola on Friday.

21. Lincoln-Way East (21-4)

Last week: 20

The Griffins beat Sandburg 66-50 and lost to No. 13 Bolingbrook for the second time in three weeks, 65-62.

22. Decatur MacArthur (24-2)

Last week: 23

The Generals beat Jacksonville 75-46 and Decatur Eisenhower 71-43. They host 24-2 Sacred Heart-Griffin on Tuesday.

23. Oswego East (22-5)

Last week: 24

The Wolves have won four straight after beating Minooka 62-39 and 22-5 Yorkville 59-48.

24. Mount Carmel (22-5)

Last week: 16

The Caravan fell out of the Catholic League Blue lead after losing 69-59 to Marmion and 63-57 to No. 18 Brother Rice. They also fell 71-68 to Franklin (Wis.) before snapping that three-game slide with a 68-57 win over Kankakee.

25. Marist (22-5)

Last week: 25

The RedHawks' winning streak is five after narrow victories against Carmel (51-48) and St. Patrick (42-41). They host Benet on Friday.
