Antioch's Jacey Schuler voted SBLive's Illinois High School Athlete of the Week (May 8-14)

Congratulations to Antioch softball's Jacey Schuler, who was voted the SBLive Illinois high school Athlete of the Week for May 8-14. She received more than 39 percent of the votes.

Schuler, who is committed to Michigan State, performed well in both games of Antioch's doubleheader against St. Charles North. In Game 1, the junior pitcher tossed a complete game one-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts as Antioch won 7-0. In Game 2, Schuler picked up the save in a thrilling 16-15 win by striking out the side in the bottom of the seventh to seal the victory.

Naperville Central baseball player Andrew Gallegos finished second in the voting with more than 25 percent of the votes.

Billy Bailey, Joliet West boys track and field

An Eastern Illinois track commit, Bailey starred at the Southwest Prairie Conference meet. The senior won the 100m and 200m and set a new school record in the 100 with a time of 10.58.

Tyler Bell, Lincoln-Way East baseball

Bell was the hero for Lincoln-Way East on Saturday. The junior Pittsburgh commit came through with a walk-off one-out sacrifice fly to cap off a two-run seventh and seal a 5-4 win over Libertyville.

Grace Brown, Carmel softball

In an East Suburban Catholic Conference matchup with Benet on Monday, Brown, a sophomore, sparked the Carmel offense as she went 4-for-5 with two home runs, a double, and nine RBIs to lead the winning effort for the Corsairs.

Bella Dimitrijevic, Lincoln-Way Central softball

Dimitrijevic did it all for Lincoln-Way Central last week. The sophomore struck out 15 and hit a home run in a 6-0 win over Bradley-Bourbonnais and she also struck out 14 in a 4-1 win over Andrew.

Emily Fox, Deerfield girls soccer

A junior midfielder, Fox recorded a hat trick in a 7-0 win over Grant on Thursday and she scored both of her team's goals during a 2-0 win over Warren on Friday.

Andrew Gallegos, Naperville Central baseball

A senior committed to Parkland CC, Gallegos came through when the Redhawks needed him the most on Thursday. Trailing Metea Valley 3-1 in the last inning, Gallegos launched a three-run home run to take the lead. Naperville Central went on to win 6-3 and secured the DuPage Valley Conference regular season title.

Allie Goodwin, Barrington softball

A Princeton commit, Goodwin had a great day at the plate against Fremd on Friday. The senior smacked two home runs – including the 40th of her career – to lead the way to a 12-2 win and the school's 21st Mid-Suburban League divisional title.

Yoel Guerra, Farragut baseball

Guerra had a dominant performance in Farragut’s first-round matchup with Kelly in the Chicago Public School playoffs. The freshman picked up the win and struck out 14 Kelly batters as the Admirals won 6-3.

Jack Hughes, Evergreen Park baseball

Hughes went 5-for-11 with two home runs and six RBIs in three wins for Evergreen Park during the week.

Grace King, Carmel softball

A standout freshman, King had a massive week for Carmel. She had 12 hits over four games including two home runs. She raised her batting average to an impressive .557 on the year.

Sarah Klonowski, St. Laurence softball

A standout two-way player and GCAC Red Conference Player of the Year for St. Laurence, Klonowski starred at the plate against Marian Catholic on Wednesday. The senior had three doubles and a single to lead the Vikings to a 10-2 victory.

Cooper Marrs, Riverside-Brookfield baseball

A junior, Marrs had a perfect day at the plate for the Bulldogs against Plainfield Central on Saturday. The outfielder was 5-for-5 including a three-run home run in the ninth inning that proved to be the game-winner as Riverside-Brookfield won 8-5.

Emmi Scales, St. Viator girls track and field

A senior committed to the University of Kentucky, Scales performed well in sectionals. She took first in the 100 with a time of 12.25, first in the 100 hurdles with a time of 14.29, and first in the 300 hurdles with a time of 43.23 (the best time in the state). She qualified for state in all three events and will look to repeat as champion in the hurdles.

TJ Schlageter, Joliet Catholic baseball

A senior committed to Louisville, Schlageter tossed a complete game, allowing two unearned runs on six hits and struck out 10 as Joliet Catholic defeated St. Viator 3-2 on Wednesday to secure the outright ESCC regular season title.

Paige Seivert, Lincoln-Way West softball

Seivert had a clutch performance against Plainfield South on Saturday. The freshman outfielder made a key play on defense throwing out a runner at the plate and she hit a game-winning home run to complete a sweep of a doubleheader.

Noah Taylor, Lemont boys track and field

Taylor had an outstanding performance at Lemont’s conference meet on Friday. The senior had four PRs on the day, including two school records. He took first in the 100m with a time of 11.07, first in the 4x200 with a time of 1:29.66, second in the 4x100 with a time of 43.41, and second in the 200m with a time of 22.77.

Kaleb Wilkey, Lincoln-Way West baseball

Wilkey made some key plays behind the plate while adding three hits and scoring the game-winning run in the ninth inning against Lincoln-Way Central on Thursday. The win clinched the outright SouthWest Suburban Red title for the Warriors.

Blake Wolters, Mahomet-Seymour baseball

A hard-throwing senior right-hander committed to Arizona, Wolters tossed a no-hitter and struck out 14 in a 4-0 win over Mt. Zion on Saturday.
