Over the next few weeks, we’ll be taking a position-by-position look at some of the top players in Iowa high school girls basketball. This list focuses on the power forwards.

Becca Aagard, 6-2, Jr., North Polk

Aagard isn’t a prolific scorer, but what she does is protect the rim. She averages 7.3 points, 6-8 rebounds and 4.3 blocked shots per game and makes is difficult for opponents to score near the basket. North Polk is ranked No. 3 in Class 4A with an 11-2 record.

Karrington Asp, 6-2, Jr., Western Dubuque

Asp has already committed to North Dakota State University and is averaging 15.6 points and 8.6 rebounds through 12 game, shooting 52.7 percent. As a sophomore, she contributed 11.7 point and 6.8 rebounds a game.

Bailey Boeve, 6-0, Soph., Hinton

A returning third-team Class 2A all-state basketball players, Boeve was regarded as one of the top volleyball players in the state as well. Through 12 games this season, Boeve has made 56.4 percent of her shots while averaging 16.3 points, 9.7 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 2.2 assists. As a freshman, she averaged 15.3 points and 10 rebounds per game.

Divine Bourrage, 6-0, Jr., Davenport North

One of the top players in the country, Bourrage is No. 9 in ESPNs girls basketball rankings. She has offers from Iowa, Iowa State, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Purdue, Vanderbilt and over a dozen other Division I schools. In her junior season at North, Bourrage averages 19.5 points, 9.2 rebounds and 5.5 assists through 13 games.

Katelyn Eggena, 6-1, Sr., Waverly-Shell Rock

A four-sport standout, Eggena will play basketball at Western Illinois. She was a Class 4A third-team all-state pick as a junior, averaging 16 points and nine rebounds for a state tournament qualifier. Through 12 games this season, Eggena averages 11.4 points and 5.8 rebounds.

Grace Farnsworth, 5-10, Soph., BCLUW

Farnsworth averages a double-double with 1.8 points and 10.5 rebounds through 11 games. She was a key performer for the Comets’ volleyball team that reached the state tournament for the first time in school history.

Brynlie Hadenfeldt, 5-10, Soph., Cedar Rapids Prairie

One of the top younger performers in the state, Hadenfeldt is a big reason why Prairie is 8-1 and the surprise of Class 5A. The sophomore is good for 8.6 points and 5.3 rebounds a game. She put up a double-double against Dubuque Wahlert in a clash of ranked teams.

Audrie Helmrichs, 5-10, Sr., Edgewood-Colesburg

Helmrichs was one of the top rebounders in the state last season and earned second team Class 1A all-state accolades. She is once again near the top of the rebound charts this season, standing ninth in the state at 13.0 per game, to go along with 15.9 points and she is shooting 62.6 percent.

Sophia Hope, 6-0, Sr., Waukee

The Truman (Mo.) State commit is a versatile performer who can play either forward or guard. Hope is the second-leading scorer for a 9-2 and fourth-ranked (Class 5A) squad, averaging 11.6 points and 7.7 rebounds. She has connected on 30 of 75 3-pointers.

Elise Jaeger, 6-1, Sr., West Des Moines Valley

The graceful 6-1 forward and Northern Iowa recruit is a returning second team Class 5A all-stater and one of the top performers in the state. Jaeger leads Valley with 13.6 points and 9.6 rebounds per contest through 11 games.

Adyson Jeltema, 5-11, Soph., MOC-Floyd Valley

The sophomore standout is leading the Lady Dutch with 16.3 points per game and they’ve won nine of their first 12. Jeltema is a 50.4-percent shooter with great range, having made 27 of 62 3-pointers, or 43.4 percent.

Whitney Jensen, 5-9, Sr., Remsen St. Mary’s

A returning Class 1A first-team all-stater, Jensen became her school’s all-time leading scorer early this season. Through 10 games this season, Jensen averages 11.8 points and is shooting 55.8 percent.

Kierra Jungers, 5-10, Sr., Newell-Fonda

The daughter of highly successful Newell-Fonda Coach Dick Jungers was a second team Class 1A all-state pick as a junior, averaging 12.6 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. She made the all-tournament team for the state runner-up Mustangs. The Des Moines Area Community College softball recruit is the scoring leader for the 10-0 Mustangs this season, averaging 15.5 points and 5.4 rebounds.

Hailey Kipp, 6-0, Soph., Dunkerton

The 6-foot sophomore can step beyond the arc and shoot, having connected on 15 3-pointers this season. Kipp is second on her team through 11 games at 9.9 points and also averages 5.3 rebounds. She started all but one game as a freshman.

Megan Kremer, 5-11, Sr., Bellevue Marquette

Kremer is a rebound machine, ranking third in the state and second in Class 1A with 198. That’s an average of 15.2 through 13 games to go along with a 13.2 scoring average.

Brooke Kroggeman, 6-0, Jr., West Delaware

Kroggeman is a force in the middle for the Hawks, currently leading the state in blocked shots with 68, an average of 6.2 per game. Through 12 games, Kroggeman is tossing in 20.6 points and raking in 11.7 rebounds while shooting 51.2 percent. She had an impressive triple-double with 32 points, 18 rebounds and 10 blocks against Bellevue Marquette.

Brooklyn Love, 6-1, Sr., Waterloo West

Love earned second team Class 3A all-state accolades as a junior at Hudson, but has transferred to West for her senior season. She has committed to NCAA Division II Newman (Kan.) and through nine games averages 12 points, 6.9 rebounds, 4.1 blocked shots and 2.1 assists.

Breck Mills, 6-1, Sr., Southeast Valley

The Minnesota State-Moorhead signee is a two-time all-Twin Lakes Conference honoree who scored 585 points through her junior season. Through 11 games this season, the 6-foor-1 forward averages 14.3 points and 9.5 rebounds an outing.

McKenna Murray, 6-0, Sr., Cedar Rapids Prairie

The younger sister of former Iowa standouts and current NBA twins Keagan and Kris Murray plays for her father, Kenyon – another former Hawkeye – at Prairie. The Hawks have won eight in a row since a season-opening loss to defending 5A state champion Johnston and Murray is a key reserve and the team’s senior leader.

Jaidyn Sellers, 5-11, Sr., Panorma

A third-team Class 2A all-stater last season, Sellers averaged nearly a double-double at 13.2 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. Panorama won its first 10 games this season and rose to No. 2 in the state rankings, with Sellers scoring 15.6 points and pulling down 7.7 rebounds.

Kelli Storck, 6-0, Jr., ADM

Storck is looking to follow in the footsteps of older sister Nicole, who was ADM’s leading scorer and rebounder the past three seasons. Kelli Storck was second on the team in scoring as a sophomore, but has increased her averages to 11.9 points and 8.8 rebounds through 12 games this season. She had 28 in a recent outing against Ballard.

Kyra Taylor, 5-10, Sr., Davenport North

On a team that features two of the state’s top players in Divine Bourrage and Journey Houston, Taylor does her part, averaging 9.1 points and 3.4 rebounds through 13 games. She has committed to McKendree University in Lebanon, Illinois.

Quinn Vice, 6-2, Jr., Pleasant Valley

Quinn Vice is the younger sister of Halle Vice, who led Pleasant Valley to its first state championship a couple of seasons ago. The 6-2 Vice has committed to Drake University and is off to a strong start to her junior season, leading the sixth-ranked (Class 5A) Spartans in scoring at 13.2 points per game while pulling down 4.2 rebounds.
