Early National Signing Day 2022: Where Michigan's top 2023 football prospects are expected to sign
Here is SBLive’s All-Michigan Early Signing Day team, a position by positions list of the top prospects in the Class of 2023 and where they are expected to sign on Wednesday. Multiple players were added for the deep position groups.
The team is based on 247sports’ composite rankings.
OFFENSE
Quarterback: Dante Moore (Martin Luther King) – UCLA Bruins – 5 stars
Moore led Detroit Martin Luther King to back-to-back Division 3 state titles as part of a strong legacy he leaves behind. Moore threw for over 10,000 yards and 135 touchdowns during his four years as a starter.
On Monday, Moore flipped his commitment from Oregon to UCLA.
Moore told ESPN that Oregon’s loss of offensive coordinator Kenny Dillingham was a factor in his decision, and UCLA head coach Chip Kelly’s ability to develop a quarterback. Moore also told ESPN that he's graduating early and will enroll at UCLA in January.
Quarterback: Brady Drogosh (De La Salle Collegiate) – Cincinnati Bearcats – 4 stars
Drogosh is also a state champion at quarterback. He led the Pilots to a Division 2 state championship, and he ended his career with over 3,000 passing yards.
Drogosh is currently Cincinnati's top-rated recruit in the Class of 2023.
Running back: Cole Cabana (Dexter) – Michigan Wolverines – 4 stars
Cabana led one of the state’s best turnarounds as Dexter reached the state semi-finals, the best season in school history. He joins a Michigan program that has won two consecutive Joe Moore Awards, given to the best offensive line in college football.
Running back: Darius Taylor (Walled Lake Western) – Minnesota Golden Gophers – 4 stars
Taylor is currently Minnesota’s second highest rated recruit in its 2023 class. Taylor was one of Michigan’s most explosive running backs this season, and he’s a sturdy 5-foot-11, 202 pounds.
Wide receiver: Semaj Morgan (West Bloomfield) – Michigan Wolverines – 3 star
Morgan was one of the top playmakers in Michigan this season. He played wide receiver, but he did have to play some quarterback for West Bloomfield this season. He joins fellow West Bloomfield and 4-star offensive lineman in Michigan’s 2023 class.
Wide receiver: Ryan Mooney (St. Mary’s) – Uncommitted – 3 star
Mooney is one of the few top recruits who remain uncommitted in Michigan. His impressive 6-foot-4 frame as a wide receiver has earned him offers from Iowa, Boston College and Brown.
Tight end: Brennan Paracheck (Dexter) – Michigan State Spartans – 4 star
Parachek was also part of Dexter’s memorable season, except unlike Cabana, he will go to rival Michigan State.
Offensive line: Amir Herring (West Bloomfield) – Michigan Wolverine – 4 star
Herring joins a vaunted offensive line room as Michigan has one of the best offensive lines year over year in college football. He has started since he was a freshman, and he is the 13-rated offensive lineman in the country.
Offensive line: Cole Dellinger (Clarkston) – Michigan State Spartans – 4 star
Dellinger and Clarkston’s rushing attack was a big reason why the Wolves made the Division 1 state semi-finals.
Offensive line: Dylan Senda (Divine Child) – Northwestern Wildcats – 3 star
Senda is Northwestern’s third-highest rated player in its 2023 class.
Offensive line: Jonathan Slack (Detroit Martin Luther King) – Uncommitted – 3 star
One of the men blocking for Moore recently decommitted from Michigan State on December 11.
Offensive line: Aaron Bradley (Southfield A&T) – Uncommitted – 3 star
Bradley has offers from Ball State, Jackson State, Akron and Grand Valley State, among others.
DEFENSE
Defensive line: Jalen Thompson (Cass Tech) – Michigan State Spartans – 4 star
Thompson is one of the top recruits in Michigan and a cornerstone of Michigan State’s 2023 class. He's physically imposing at 6-foot-4, 245 pounds. Thompson finished with the 2022 season earning 12 sacks, 40 solo tackles and 15 for a loss.
Defensive line: Kenneth Merrieweather (Detroit Martin Luther King) – Iowa Hawkeyes – 3 star
Merrieweather was one of the key players on a top Detroit King defense.
Defensive line: Eryx Daugherty (Brother Rice) – Boston College Eagles – 3 star
In 2022, Daughetry recorded 43 tackles, five for loss and five sacks.
Defensive line: Messiah Blair (Detroit Martin Luther King) – Eastern Michigan Eagles – 3 star
At 6-foot-7, Blair is the tallest player on this team and one of the tallest defensive lineman in the class of 2023.
Linebacker: Razah Townsend (East Kentwood) – Western Michigan Broncos – 3 star
Townsend was a stand-up outside linebacker with a specialty in rushing the passer with his 6-foot-3, 230 pound frame.
Linebacker: Bryce Eliuk (Linden) – Eastern Michigan Eagles – 2 star
Eliuk also had offers from Central Michigan and Bowling Green, among others.
Defensive back: Amare Snowden (Roseville) – Wisconsin Badgers – 4 star
Snowden was the highest rated recruit in Michigan yet to commit. Snowden chose Wisconsin on Wednesday over Cincinnati, West Virginia and Colorado, among others.
Defensive back: Jameel Croft (Detroit Martin Luther King) – Kansas – 3 star
Croft was one of the top playmakers on defense in Michigan all season, and he is Kansas' third highest rated recruit in its 2023 class.
Defensive back: Mychal Yharbrough (Belleville) – Miami (OH) Redhawks – 3 star
Yharbrough is listed as an athlete, and he was dominant on both sides of the ball for Division 1 champion Belleville.
Defensive back: Lorenzo Williams Jr. (West Bloomfield) – Western Michigan Broncos – 3 star
Williams Jr. also had offers from Akron, Ball State and Central Michigan.
Defensive back: Jeremiah Alston (Redford Union) – Central Michigan Chippewas – 3 star
Alston can jump between defensive back and linebacker with his 6-foot-1, 205 pound frame.
Defensive back: Jamari Allen (De La Salle) – Central Michigan Chippewas – 2 star
Allen was an important piece of De La Salle’s 2022 Division 2 title.
SPECIALISTS
Kicker: Adam Samaha (Huron) – Michigan Wolverines – 3 -star
Samaha kicked a 49-yard field goal at the U.S. Army Bowl.
