Here are the candidates for the Michigan High School Athlete of the Week for Sept. 4-10 as nominated by coaches, fans and readers.

Read through the nominees and cast your vote. Voting will conclude Sunday at 11:59 p.m. and the winner will be announced Monday.

Jordan Alston, St. Clair Shores Lake Shore

Junior quarterback Jordan Alston had a tremendous day for St. Clair Shores Lake Shore’s 32-21 win over Warren Woods-Tower. Alston completed 16 of his 20 passes for 310 passing yards, and three passing touchdowns.

Sante Gasperoni, De La Salle High School

Junior quarterback Sante Gasperoni led De La Salle to a huge win over Orchard Lake St. Mary’s, 41-27. Gasperoni totaled four touchdowns as he threw for two and would run in two more with his feet.

Seth Marek, Petoskey High School

Junior wide receiver Seth Marek was unstoppable for Petoskey in their blowout win over Escanaba, 50-0. Marek hauled in nine receptions for 209 yards, and two touchdowns.

Reed Blake-Thomas, Brighton High School

Junior middle linebacker Reed Blake-Thomas was a dominant force on defense for the Bulldogs despite a 24-10 loss to 16th ranked Northville. Blake-Thomas did a little bit of everything as he compiled 16 total tackles, one interception and a fumble recovery.

Tyson Hill, Chelsea High School

Hill rushed 21 times for 258 yards and three touchdowns in a win over Edwardsburg. He also had one receptions for 10 yards.

Jaxson Engelberg, Caledonia High School

Senior offensive and defensive lineman Jaxson Engelberg is one of the best in the state and showed that on Friday in Caledonia’s 49-3 win over West Ottawa. 

On the offensive end, Engelberg totaled four pancake blocks, while compiling seven total tackles, three tackles for losses, two sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.

Bryson Williams, Orchard Lake St. Mary’s

Junior wide receiver Bryson Williams would have a huge night for St. Mary’s despite their tough loss to De La Salle, 41-27. 

Williams totaled three touchdowns to finish the game as he caught two and would return a kickoff for another.

Dakota Guerrant, Harper Woods High School

Freshman wide receiver Dakota Guerrant had quite the high school debut for Harper Woods despite its 34-26 loss to Southfield A&T. Guerrant would finish the game with over 200 yards receiving and two touchdowns.

Nick Marsh, River Rouge High School

Senior wide receiver and Michigan State commit Nick Marsh continued to shine for River Rouge.

 Marsh was doing it all for the Panthers as he finished the game with one receiving, one rushing, and one passing touchdown.

Graham Junge, Flat Rock High School

Junior quarterback Graham Junge had a stellar performance for Flat Rock as they beat Carleton Airport, 33-21. Junge completed 28 of his 38 passes for 350 passing yards, and four passing touchdowns.

Reqez Nance, West Bloomfield High School

Senior quarterback Reqez Nance showed he’s a top quarterback in the state on Friday as West Bloomfield edged Stoney Creek, 40-33. Nance completed nine of his attempted 13 passes for 210 passing yards and five passing touchdowns.

Isabella Edwards, Croswell-Lexington

In girls volleyball, Senior Isabella Edwards had a good performance for Crosswell-Lexington in their 3-0 win over Yale. Edwards finished the match with 15 kills, two assists, one block, and five digs.

Piper Risdon, Lowell High School

Senior Piper Risdon displayed her talents against Lakewood as Lowell defeated the Vikings, 3-2. Risdon would finish the match with 14 kills, six blocks, four digs, one ace, and one assist.

Jess Maier, Caledonia High School

Junior Jess Maier was distributing the ball for Caledonia in their 2-0 match win over Allendale. Maier would finish with 34 assists to go along with five digs, and one block.

Dylan Muldoon, Howardsville Christian

In boys soccer, Dylan Muldoon showed up for Howardsville Christian as they defeated Covert, 7-2. Muldoon completed a hat trick as he finished with three goals and one assist.

Kayden Dueweke-Gonzales, Kalkaska High School

Senior goalkeeper Kayden Dueweke-Gonzales held the fort down for Kalkaska in their 1-1 draw with Harbor Springs. Dueweke-Gonzales would finish the game with 14 saves while only allowing one goal.

Matthew Marsheh, sophomore, Notre Dame Prep 

Marshesh had five goals in two games: a 5-1 win over Frankenmuth and a 3-0 win over Flushing.
