Vote: Who is the 2023 New Jersey Girls Flag Football Player of the Year?
The high school girls flag football season wrapped up in New Jersey back in the fall and we start to take a closer look at the player of the year.
We wanted to let the fans decide on who they believe are the players most deserving from the 2023 New Jersey flag football season.
We start in the East Coast region and to the Garden State of New Jersey and we ask the question: Who was the 2023 New Jersey Girls Flag Football Player of the Year?
This list consists of six worthy candidates and we're asking for your help as the fan to vote on who you believe had the best season this fall.
Voting will end on March 31st, 2024.
Editor’s note: Our corresponding poll is intended to be fun, and we do not set limits on how many times a fan can vote during the competition. This poll is specifically for fans to vote on the players that have been nominated and in no way discredits any other player that may not be mentioned in our poll.
Here are the nominees:
Janasia Wilson, QB, Irvington: The senior dynamo did it all for the Blue Knights, throwing for 1,432 yards, 24 touchdowns through the air. On the ground, Wilson rushed for 1,010 yards and scored 12 touchdowns. Also intercepted seven passes on defense.
Faith Phillips, WR, Irvington: Phillips was the go-to-target through the air for Irvington, with the wide receiver hauling in 33 catches for 557 yards and a team-high 13 touchdowns. Also made 41 flag pulls on defense.
Raniyah Green, QB, Hillside: Green had a solid season under center for Hillside, completing 54-of-97 passes for 904 yards, 16 touchdowns and just six interceptions.
Shilin Roupe, RB, West Orange: The running back was a tough stop for any defense throughout the 2023 season. Roupe rushed for 832 yards on 58 carries and scored eight touchdowns.
Aayana Morman, R, West Orange: Arguably the top rusher from the 2023 season was Morman, who was hard to get away from for quarterbacks. Morman tallied 11 sacks and also had 28 flag pulls.
Izzy Thompkins, R, Passaic County Tech: As one of the top rushers in the state, Thompkins was everywhere pulling flags. Thompkins made 33 flag pulls and notched four sacks.
