Brookwood had a big week over the holidays, winning the Deep South Classic with a thrilling championship game win over Holy Innocents', and now the Broncos shift to region play.

Brookwood's tilt against neighbor Archer headlines the top 10 games of the week in Georgia high school girls basketball.

TOP 10 GAMES OF THE WEEK

10. North Forsyth (11-3) vs. Loganville (7-4), 5 p.m. Wednesday

North Forsyth is on a three-game losing streak and needs a win here against Loganville, which is looking to build on momentum after a 69-51 win over Dacula on Dec. 30. Loganville could have a tough time hitting the road, however, as North Forsyth is 6-0 at home.

9. Kell (11-0) vs. South Cobb (5-5), 6 p.m. Tuesday

Kell is one of the hottest teams in the state and is looking to keep that momentum going with an early-week matchup against South Cobb. The Eagles have not been great to start the year, but have won three in a row heading into this game.

8. St. Francis (8-2) vs. Mount Pisgah (6-4), 6 p.m. Saturday

There are 1A private teams littered with talent in Georgia, and St. Francis is hoping to stake its claim as one of the best. The Knights will get another test against Mount Pisgah, but the Knights have rolled through most of the competition on their own level this season.

7. Woodward Academy (10-1) vs. Lake Highland Prep (Florida) (11-3), 12:30 p.m. Saturday

Woodward hasn't lost since November and is looking to keep it rolling on a road trip down to Florida to face a basketball powerhouse in Lake Highland Prep. While this game won’t do much for Woodward in terms of a run to the state championship, it should allow the War Eagles to get tested in a way they can't replicate in the regular season.

6.River Ridge (11-1) vs. Cambridge (10-3), 6 p.m. Tuesday

River Ridge made it four in a row after a 55-52 win over Hillgrove. Cambridge comes into this game back in the win column after a 56-25 win over M.L. King in a tournament. While River Ridge should have the upper hand, Cambridge won’t be easy, setting up what should be one of the better games this week.

5.Jefferson (12-2) vs. Chestatee (9-4), 6 p.m. Tuesday

After a three-game winning streak, Jefferson cooled off with a 49-32 loss to Lumpkin in a late-December tournament. The Dragons did, however, start the season on a seven-game winning streak and have been one of the best teams in Class 5A. They’ll get a test with Chestatee, which has had an up-and-down season but is trending in the right direction.

4. Mount Paran (8-3) vs. Darlington (10-2), 6 p.m. Friday

Mount Paran has shown it can play with teams from higher classifications, most evident in games against Grayson (46-44 W), Brookwood (57-53 L) and Archer (49-38 W). Yet, Mount Paran has met its match before in 1A private, specifically on Nov. 30 in a 57-54 loss to St. Francis. Whether Darlington has enough to run with the Eagles, however, is the question.

3.Carrollton (11-0) vs. Carver (7-1), 6 p.m. Wednesday

Carrollton is still perfect … and still rolling. And the thing is, Carrollton isn’t just winning, but handily. The Trojans haven’t had a single-digit game since Nov. 30 in a 76-70 overtime win over East Coweta. Carver is off to a good start to the season, however, giving Carrollton the tough test it needs to get ready for the postseason.

2.Holy Innocents' (12-2) vs. West Forsyth (10-2), 6 p.m. Tuesday

Holy Innocents' has been the class of 1A Private basketball, and maybe even in all of the state. Yet, the Bears will get a tough test from West Forsyth, which has already knocked off Woodstock and North Forsyth. But the Bears, led by senior wing Rachel Suttle, have a wealth of experience and are looking to build toward another state championship.

1.Brookwood (11-3) vs. Archer (10-3), 3 p.m. Saturday

These two nearby schools meet in a huge Saturday game to kick off the stretch run toward the GHSA state championships this spring. Brookwood is on a roll after avenging a previous loss to No. 1 Holy Innocents' with a 52-51 win on Dec. 30. Archer will be entering this game after playing Duluth and Dunwoody, looking to improve its region position and get a quality win all in one week.
