The first week of January in Southern California high school basketball included several big performances across non-league games and tournaments involving the L.A. City, Southern and San Diego sections.

Here’s a quick look at some of the top stars and individual performances from the first week of January throughout SoCal.

SOCAL TOP STARS(Jan. 3-9)

Sebastian Medina, San Ysidro boys basketball: Medina averaged over 33 points per game across three games last week including a 60-point, eight-assist, six-steal performance in the league opener against Bonita Vista.

Breya Cunningham, La Jolla Country Day girls basketball: Cunningham had 24 points, 15 rebounds, and four blocks in Saturday's 73-71 win over Sierra Canyon.

Isuneh "Ice" Brady, Cathedral Catholic girls basketball: The UConn-signee had 31 points and 24 rebounds in Saturday's win over Ontario Christian.

Emily Shaw, Mater Dei girls basketball: Shaw had 19 points, inlcuding five three pointers, to help the Monarchs take down Sage Hill, 75-40.

Londynn Jones, Corona Centennial girls basketball: Jones had 28 points and five steals to lead the Huskies to a 66-61 win over Mission Hills on Saturday.

Shanna Brown, Aliso Niguel girls basketball: Brown led the charge against Esparanza, finishing with 28 points and 21 rebounds.

Zack Davidson, Mater Dei boys basketball: Davidson had 25 points, eight rebounds, and three steals in Saturday's 13-point win over San Juan Hills.

Chase Newman, Ramona boys basketball: Newman averaged 22 points, seven rebounds, and four assists per game during three games last week for the Bulldogs.

Jake Jackson, Madison boys basketball: Jackson had 23 points and 13 rebounds in last week's win over Poway.

Demond Johnson, Olympian boys basketball: Johnson had 30 points, 11 rebounds, and four steals in a four-point loss to Otay Ranch.

Cam Marshall, Patrick Henry boys basketball: Marshall had 26 points and six three pointers in last week's win over Madison.

Brandon Benjamin, Canyon boys basketball: Benjamin averaged over 20 points per game in back-to-back wins last week over San Gabriel Academy and El Modena.

Ahmad Hammouri, Western boys basketball: Hammouri averaged 15 points, 13 rebounds, six steals and five rebounds per game in two wins over Savanna and Anaheim last week.

Dennis Evans, Hillcrest boys basketball: Evans had 22 points, 14 rebounds and six blocks against Patriot on Tuesday.

Elijah Edwards, West Valley (Hemet) boys basketball: Edwards dominated against Tahquitz on Tuesday, finishing with 36 points and 22 rebounds.

Derek Pangilinan, Desert boys basketball: Panglilnan had 28 points, ten assists and seven rebounds against Bishop Union.

Ben Shtolzberg, Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks) boys basketball: Shtolzberg had 28 points, six rebounds and six assists in Friday's win over Harvard-Westlake.

Arlan Koester, Hesperia Christian boys basketball: Koester had 17 points and 16 rebounds in a win over Lucerne Valley.

Lucas Fenske, Moorpark boys basketball: Fenski had 33 points, knocking down eight three pointers to help the Musketeers defeat Christian.

Ari Long, Valley View girls basketball: Long had 33 points, 14 rebounds, nine assists and four steals in a 72-56 win over Xavier Prep.
