Here are the candidates for SBLive’s Central North Carolina high school football defensive football player of the week for Oct. 23 as nominated by fans, readers and SBLive’s staff. Read through the nominees and cast your vote in our poll. You may vote as often as you like. Connor Hood, Davie County: Hood had a 64-yard interception return for a touchdown in a 40-33 win over Parkland.

Zander Richardson, Davie County: Richardson had a 31-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown in a 40-33 win over Parkland.

Caleb Edstrom, Mooresville: Edstrom recorded 12 tackles, three tackles for loss and an interception in a win over A.L. Brown. 

Jake Davids, Ardrey Kell: Davids finished with 16 tackles , three tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and an interception in a 34-14 win over Olympic.

D.J. Jones, Mallard Creek: Jones had 13 tackles in a 33-7 win over West Mecklenburg.

Nate Rawls, Marvin Ridge: Rawls recorded 12 tackles in a 20-7 win over Sun Valley.
