Ohio's top high school girls track and field athletes: Meet the state’s best sprinters

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be taking a look at some of the top track and field athletes in Ohio.

We'll start with the top sprinters in the girls division.

There are hundreds of standout sprinters in Ohio, and these lists are not intended to be comprehensive! Tag us on Twitter or Instagram at @SBLiveOH and let us know about other athletes worthy of fans’ attention.

Note: We'll also be posting lists of the state's top hurdlers, jumpers, throwers and distance runners in the coming weeks. Many athletes excel in multiple events, but we won't do write-ups on the same athlete on multiple lists.

DaMya Barker, Buchtel, senior

Barker excels in sprints and hurdles and is coming off an outstanding indoor campaign. She finished her indoor season with PRs in the 60 meters (7.88), 60 hurdles (8.74) and 400 (57.57).

Azariyah Bryant, Lakota East, senior

Bryant, who’s committed to the University of Illinois for sprinting, enters the spring season as the defending 100-meter regional champion. Bryant’s most recent PR in the 60 came on Feb. 19, when she clocked a 7.56. That same day, she bested her quickest 200 with a sprint of 25.04. 

Alexis Cain, Euclid, senior

Cain is the fastest returning 400 runner in Ohio with a time of 55.90 at last year's state championships. She should also contend for a state title in the 200 in her senior season.

Gianna Cameron, Wayne, senior

Cameron’s 11.89 100-meter time at the D1 state championship was good for second behind only Walsh Jesuit's Alexis Steward. Cameron recently ran a PR of 7.38 in an indoor 60-meter dash. 

Reagan Campbell, Licking Valley, junior

Campbell ran her 200-meter best of 27.58 in February at the Central District Indoor Championship after securing her best 400 of 56.62 at the D2 state championships in 2021.

Amryn Chilton, Gahanna Lincoln, junior

After securing her 100-meter PR of 12.87 in 2021’s Westerville North Tri Meet, Chilton ran a personal best of 25.22 in the 200 just 11 days later. Chilton enters the upcoming season after battling injuries late last spring season.

Eve Clark, Euclid, sophomore

Clark landed both her 100-meter and 200-meter PRs in 2021’s outdoor season, 12.87 and 25.18, respectively. Clark, a volleyball athlete as well, secured Ohio’s No. 6 200-meter time of 25.62 at NEOITC Series Green Division.

Kya Epps, St. Vincent-St. Mary, senior

Epps, who also stars on the tennis court for STVM, has top 10 returning times in the 100 and 200. She ran an 11.92 in the 100 and a 24.52 in the 200 at last year's state championships.

Alexa Fortman, Ottawa-Glandorf, junior

As a sophomore, Fortman ran her fastest 100 (13.23) and 200 (26.14) after a personal best 400 (56.74) at the D2 state championships. She says she just goes all out in the 400, while the 800 requires a bit more strategy.

Kiersten Franklin, Lehman Catholic, senior

In June, Franklin was Ohio’s D3 200-meter champion with a time of 25.42 seconds. Franklin’s 4x100 team was also D3 state runner-up in 2021 with a time of 49.12. 

Jadyn Haywood, Chaminade Julienne, senior

At the OHSAA DII Southwest District — Piqua, Haywood clocked a PR of 12.05, landing her as 2021’s 11th-fastest 100-meter sprinter. Although a three-season athlete along with basketball and soccer, Haywood’s 200-meter PR sits at 25.05. With multiple offers on the table, Haywood has not yet committed.

Lexi Magoto, Versailles, junior

As a sophomore, Magoto ran the 10th-fastest 400 in the state with a PR of 56.65. Magoto is a tri-sport athlete, as she also excels on the volleyball and basketball court.

Olivia Pace, Westerville Central, junior

Pace ran a PR of 12.22 in the 100 meters at the OHSAA DI Central District Derby. Most recently, Pace claimed All-American honors with a fifth place in the 60-meter indoor finals.

Ramiya Roy, Pickerington Central, senior

Roy ran Ohio's 11th-fastest 100-meter of 12.12 at the Wildcat Invitational. She was part of the 400 relay that won second place at the D1 state meet in 2021.

Erin Starks, Trotwood-Madison, senior

In December, Starks recorded her fastest 200-meter time at 26.87, while her 12.82 100 in April marked her PR. A multi-event athlete, Starks ran an 8-second 60 meters at Wittenberg University in January and a PR of 1:04.83 in the 400 at Ohio State.

Alexis Steward, Walsh Jesuit, senior

As a sophomore at the Don Faix Invitational last April, Steward ran an 11.72 100-meter dash, landing her the fastest time in the state while picking up her PR. Steward recently ran a PR of 8.14 in the indoor 60 meters.

Kenna Stimmel, Margaretta, senior

With Stimmel’s PR in the 100-meter clocking in at 12.08 at the Bill Krause Invitational, she’s found herself at No. 12 fastest in the 100 entering the spring season. However, Stimmel is taking her talents to Virginia Tech to continue her pole-vaulting career.

Sieasia Triplett, Girard, junior

Triplett’s 12.47 in the 100 at the D2 Northeast Districts was enough for her PR, while a 25.22 two weeks later was her fastest 200. Triplett also excels on the basketball court.

Makayla White, Hawken, senior

White ran a 100-meter PR of 12.31 coupled with a 26.27 200 in 2021, landing her the No. 18 fastest 100 meters and No. 13 200 meters. White has committed to Yale for track and field.
