Jordan Marshall breaks Archbishop Moeller career rushing record
Records are made to be broken. And that's exactly what Archbishop Moeller running back Jordan Marshall did on Friday night.
The 6-foot, 215-pound senior entered Moeller's game on Friday night at Elder just 87 yards shy of the school record for rushing yards in a career with 4,011 yards, trailing Marcus Blanks, who had 4,098 yards in his career from 1998-2001.
On an 11-yard carry in the second possession of the third quarter, Marshall eclipsed Blanks and put himself at the top of the record books.
Marshall, a 4-star University of Michigan recruit, entered Friday night's game with 772 yards rushing on the season on 116 carries and had scored nine touchdowns on the ground. He scored twice in the first half against Elder.
This comes one season after rushing for 1,961 yards and 30 touchdowns and finishing third in Ohio's Mr. Football voting and being named the OHSAA Division I co-Offensive Player of the Year while helping lead the Crusaders to the Division I state semifinals. Marshall finished last season with 2,325 yards of total offense as he also caught 19 passes for 364 yards and four scores.
After rushing for 100 or more yards in 12 of 14 contests as a junior, Marshall entered Friday night's game having surpassed the century mark in all six games for the Crusaders this season.
