Baseball season is winding into the home stretch this week, with regional play already starting for the lower classifications, district play starting for classes 2A-4A and classes 5A and 6A concluding the final week of the regular season.

Here, we take a look at where the top 25 teams in the SBLive Oklahoma weekly rankings stand.

Note: Rankings are from games through Tuesday, April 25.

1. Tulsa Union Redhawks

The Redhawks are the No. 1 ranked team for the second consecutive week after dispatching of Booker T. Washington in a doubleheader on Monday to improve to 9-1 in conference play and 29-6 overall.

The one district loss is to Bixby and the Redhawks also have conference wins against Stillwater and won the Gladys Winters Festival.

Union has back-to-back road trips to Coweta and Lincoln Christian before starting tournament play next week.

2. Sand Springs Sandites

The Sandites have been on a tear as of late, winning 13 of their past 14 and moving to 25-7 on the year. Sand Springs won their district series against Putnam City North, outscoring them 30-6.

In an 11-0 win against Tahlequah heading into the weekend, Easton Webb pitched a complete game, striking out eight, while Dominic Ornelas had a home run and three RBIs.

3. Bixby Spartans

After losing three straight to start the year, it appeared as though the Spartans had turned the corner. That is until they recently lost a series to Enid and fell to Westmoore and Jenks as the week came to a close.

The Spartans rebounded from that disappointment with a sweep of Stillwater and by beating Bartlesville in game one of their final district series.

4. Enid Plainsmen

Making a jump into the top five this week are the Plainsmen, who have come on strong, winning 10 straight. The Plainsmen beat Bixby twice and will look to sweep Stillwater on Thursday.

Junior utility player Cooper Jarnigan has helped keep his team right in the hunt for playoff positioning.

In the 12-5 win against Stillwater on Monday, Enid hit four home runs. Garrett Shull had two, while Bennett Percival and James Humphrey also hit one.

5. Piedmont Wildcats

The Wildcats closed out district play with a home win against Midwest City Carl Albert to win the district title by a game. Piedmont has moved to 24-7 on the year and is 13-1 in district play.

Piedmont was down 12-7 in the bottom of the seventh against Carl Albert and scored six runs to clinch the district title. Noah Smith’s double tied the game at 12; then Logan Hill's RBI single won it for the Wildcats.

6. Elk City Elks

Elk City finished district play undefeated and went 27-3 on the year. This includes a 10-6 win over the defending Class 4A state champs in Blanchard.

The Elks have gotten off to a solid start this year thanks in large part to the play of Oklahoma State University commit Kash Mayfield. The junior has been great on the mound and his teammates have fed off his energy.

They open district play this week against Dickson.

7. Stillwater Pioneers

The Pioneers have the talent to compete for a Class 6A state championship, but are struggling down the stretch.

Stillwater lost the series with Bixby last week and lost the first game against Enid this week. That second game will be played on Thursday because of weather. In a 5-4 home win against Fayetteville (Ark.) last week, Anthony Smith and Ethan Holliday each hit a home run.

8. Midwest City Carl Albert Titans

The Titans split a district series with Piedmont and that resulted in a second-place finish in their district. Carl Albert finished at 26-6 on the year and will play two more games at the end of the week before beginning regional play next week.

Sammy Gonzalez recently hit two home runs, one of which was a grand slam.

9. Broken Arrow Tigers

The Tigers lost to Owasso on Monday with a chance to win the district title. They were supposed to have a second chance at that district title on Tuesday, but the game was postponed due to weather and a makeup date has yet to be announced.

Broken Arrow stands at 22-8 on the year and split its series with Jenks last week.

10. Washington Warriors

The Warriors finished a perfect 12-0 in district play and after ending the season with a 3-2 loss to Tuttle, finished the regular season with an overall mark of 24-5.

Washington finished district play with a 12-0 win against Davis. Camden Bates and Dax McCaskill each hit a home run in that game.

11. Choctaw Yellowjackets

Choctaw had went through a bit of a midseason slump, but has bounced back well by winning 12 of its last 13, including two conference wins against Capitol Hill this week to finish 13-1 and claim a district title.

Easton Costa struck out nine in five innings pitched in a 10-0 win against Moore last week.

12. Owasso Rams

The reigning Class 6A state champs haven’t had the kind of season they wanted overall, as they stand at 22-11 on the year, but with a win over Broken Arrow, the Rams can still win a district title.

In the 7-1 win against Broken Arrow on Monday, Jackson Farrell had a no-hit bid going into the sixth inning and scored two runs.

13. Blanchard Lions

The Lions are looking to repeat as Class 4A state champions and after a 3-2 win against Tuttle, they seem to be the odds-on favorite.

They did recently suffer a district loss to Chickasha, but were still crowned district champs and will host John Marshall for a chance to win the district championship this week.

Junior Carson Howe has already made his commitment to Murray State College, and he has been putting in a lot of hard work in the infield so far this year.

14. Westmoore Jaguars

The Jaguars defeated Edmond North in walk-off fashion on Monday to win the district title. Westmoore (21-12) is 12-1 in district play and has one game left against the Huskies this week.

Tanner Fallwell hit a three-run homer to lead the Jags to that win.

15. Tuttle Tigers

Tuttle has moved to 28-4 on the year and has recently gotten great wins against Collinsville, Washington and Edmond Memorial. The Tigers suffered two losses recently, with those losses coming to Owasso and an out-of-state team in Ozark, Mo.

Tuttle will be the team to keep an eye on in Class 4A, as they went a perfect 14-0 in district play and Alex Conover will be the name to keep an eye on, as he can do a little bit of everything.

16. Silo Rebels

The Rebels are the defending Class 2A state champions and are hungry for more, having gotten off to a 25-4 start in 2023. Silo has now won 13 straight.

Senior Kyler Proctor is committed to Oklahoma State University and is expected to lead the way for the Rebels as the year rolls along. Silo got an automatic bye into the regional tournament.

17. Jenks Trojans

The Trojans are now 21-11 on the year, but most importantly are 10-3 in district play after a recent win against Ponca City. Jenks will play the Wildcats one more time this week, as the game from Tuesday was postponed because of weather.

They had an impressive 10-9 win against Bixby and in that win, it was junior Tanner Primeaux coming up clutch, as he came up with the game-winning hit.

18. Mustang Broncos

With one regular season game left, the Broncos are slotted into the second spot in their district, finishing behind Choctaw. Mustang stands at 22-8 overall and recently went on a three-game win streak, outscoring its opponents, 66-0.

Junior Pierce Corley will be a key cog in Mustang’s success moving forward as playoff action starts next week.

19. Sapulpa Chieftains

Following a sweep of Bishop Kelley on Monday, Sapulpa brought home a district championship and finished 12-2 in district play.

The Chieftains are now 24-8 on the year and will face Sand Springs on Thursday. Senior Hayden Lance has kept things steady on the mound in the early parts of the season, and Jack Blevins has gotten off to a great start behind the plate.

Sapulpa has a notable win against rival Sand Springs earlier this year and beat a few out-of-state teams at an exhibition in Gulf Shores, Ala.

20. Elgin Owls

The Owls only lost a single district game to Noble and finished as the District 5A-2 champions after a doubleheader sweep at Lawton MacArthur earlier this week.

Elgin stands at 25-7 on the year and will finish with a game against Norman before beginning regional play next week. The Owls have won both the Bill Tipton Classic and the Marlow Outlaw Tournament.

21. Cushing Tigers

The Tigers are a perfect 22-0 on the year, but have yet to play a team ranked inside the top 25.

In a recent win against Bristow, Brody Berlowitz and Stetson Ethridge both hit home runs. Cushing won’t face a team ranked inside the top 25 until the playoffs start.

22. Fort Cobb-Broxton Mustangs

The Mustangs were a game short of winning the Class B state championship last year and after two convincing district playoff wins against Bray-Doyle, they are looking to avenge that loss from last year.

The Mustangs recently beat Weatherford and Lindsay, and will begin regional play this Thursday against Battiest.

23. Noble Bears

The Bears have struggled down the stretch, but have the talent to get things together as the regional tournament starts next week. Noble has dropped four of its past six and finish the year with Putnam City and El Reno.

24. Collinsville Cardinals

The Cardinals are an impressive 28-4 on the year and 11-0 in district play with one more against Claremore to go. Three of those losses came against top 25 competition. Their offense is rolling and the pitching staff is doing its job as well.

In a run-rule win against Jay, Corbin Gorrell hit a home run and had three RBIs.

25. Duncan Demons

The defending Class 5A state champions have ended the season on a bit of a downward slide, losing four of their last five games. The Demons finished third in a stacked district with Elgin and Noble, but have the talent to turn things around as regional tournament action starts next week.

Preston Giles homered in a recent conference game.
