Tulsa Union (Oklahoma) uncommitted 2024 CB Devon Jordan heavily pursued by Oklahoma and Texas schools

TULSA, OKLAHOMA - Tulsa Union dismantled Owasso Friday night, 55-22, with another high-octane offensive show and a shutdown defense at Union-Tuttle Stadium.

But a big question a lot of people may have right now is what has been on the mind of senior cornerback Devon Jordan, especially Oklahoma Sooner fans since OU is one of his top schools. Oklahoma State is also up there in the running. So are others, like south of the Red River. 

Jordan remains uncommitted. He was not in on any big plays in the Owasso game, but Jordan (6-foot-1, 170 pounds) did contribute with five tackles - four solo - in the Redhawks’ win in their District 6AI-2 opener.

At the moment, Jordan is living the life of a high school senior athlete who is being heavily recruited by Division I coaches for his talents. Sometime soon, there will come a day when he will make an announcement with plans to announce a decision for his chosen destination.

“It’s really not that hard,” Jordan said. “The pressure is hard. But I realize I can decide whenever I want to and I just let all that pressure go away, and pray to God, and wherever God leads me, that’s where I’m going to go.

The Redhawk senior defensive back said after the Owasso game that he has a planned visit set next weekend at TCU and will be attending the Horned Frogs’ game in Ft. Worth against West Virginia. Jordan also has plans to visit Texas A&M.

He was going to go to College Station this past weekend, but due to the Aggies’ game against Auburn being moved to 11 a.m., he is having it rescheduled.

It has been known that Oklahoma is among his leading choices and he verified that in the interview with SBLive Oklahoma Friday night, along with TCU and A&M.

“They’re strong. They’re recruiting me heavily,” Jordan said.

So, as of now, Jordan is looking at OU, OSU, TCU and Texas A&M as his top four choices, he said. There is no fifth.

Jordan is looking at making his announcement between October and December, and people will be keeping their eyes and ears open. But for now, he is enjoying his senior season.

The Redhawks’ defense forced two interceptions, caused the Rams to turn the ball over on downs twice, and kept them from making it a one-touchdown game before halftime when they had possession near the Union goal line but ran out of time.

Union was up at the break, 21-8, and scored 27 more points before Owasso scored again.

“I gave it my all,” Jordan said. “This game was really personal. They sent us home in the (2022 Class 6AI state) semifinals. They caught us sleeping.

Jordan was making reference to when Union lost to Owasso, 50-47, in a game that went six overtimes in last year’s state semifinals. It was also a big upset.

The Redhawks were also motivated by a 31-24 loss to Jenks in Week 2, followed by an off-week before Friday night.

“We had to correct some stuff to show who we really are,” Jordan said. “Because two weeks ago, that wasn’t who we really are."
