CLASS 6A GIRLS

At Chiles Center

Thursday’s quarterfinals

No. 1 Beaverton 42, No. 8 West Linn 19

The Beavers (24-1) got big games from two players and used a 25-7 second half to turn a close game into a blowout win over the cold-shooting Lions (17-8). 

Lainey Spear poured in 19 points and Zoe Borter added 16 to pace top-seeded Beaverton, which held West Linn scoreless in the third quarter. 

Allie Roden and Olivia McVicker had five points apiece as the Lions shot 26.9% (7 of 26) from the field and committed 14 turnovers. 

No. 5 Clackamas 70, No. 4 Lakeridge 48

Eliza Buerk (14 points, 10 rebounds) and Jazzy Davidson (12 and 10) had double-doubles, Avery Peterson scored 17, and Sara Barhoum added 12, leading the sharpshooting Cavaliers (26-2) in a rout of the Pacers (22-5). 

Clackamas led 28-8 after eight minutes and finished 50% (23 of 46) from the field. 

Keelie O'Hollaren had a game-high 18 points and Reese Ericson chipped in 13 with eight assists for Lakeridge, which committed 14 turnovers. 

No. 3 South Medford 53, No. 6 Benson 47

Donovyn Hunter, Lottie Dillard and Tatum Schmerbach scored 13 points apiece, Sierra Logue added 10, and the Panthers (24-3) connected on 19 of 27 free throw attempts to edge the Techsters (21-5). 

South Medford trailed 22-21 at the break before taking control with an 18-5 outburst in the third quarter. 

Onna Brown had 13 points, Malaya LeSueur chipped in 10, and Tait Quinlan scored nine points with 10 boards to pace Benson. 

The Techsters, who relinquished the lead early in the second half and never led again, got within two twice in the final 1:15.

No. 7 Barlow 52, No. 2 Jesuit 36

Lindsay Barden (16 points), Annie Koenig (15) and Kennedie Shuler (11) reached double figures, and the Bruins (24-3) overcame a halftime deficit to knock off the Crusaders (24-4). 

Barlow was sluggish out of the gate and trailed by one at the half before outscoring Jesuit 33-16 over the final 16 minutes.

Emma Sixta notched 15 points, Avery Edwards added 13 points, and Tessa Randall gathered seven rebounds to lead the charge for the Crusaders.

CLASS 6A BOYS

Thursday’s consolation games 

No. 4 South Medford 52, No. 8 Beaverton 45 (OT)

Jackson Weiland made seven free throws in overtime to help the Panthers (24-3) pull away for a hard-fought win over the pesky Beavers (19-8). 

Beaverton’s Trevon Hamilton forced overtime with two free throws late in regulation, but the Beavers could muster just four points in the extra four-minute period. 

Weiland finished with 17 points, Boden Howell added 13, and Devon Malcolm scored 12 to go with 14 rebounds to lead South Medford. 

Aidan Rice came off the bench to lead all scorers with 20 points, while Max Elmgren had eight and Hamilton six for Beaverton. 

No. 7 Roosevelt 69, No. 3 Cleveland 65

Chance White scored a game-high 26 points, Raysean Seamster and Terrence Hill pitched in 12 points apiece, and the Roughriders (22-7) held off a late charge from the Warriors (22-6) in a clash between Portland Interscholastic League rivals. 

Seamster also pulled down 11 rebounds and had four blocked shots for Roosevelt, which jumped out to a 17-3 advantage. 

Stephen Treat (18 points, 10 rebounds), SC Tresvant (17 points) and Jackson Cooper (14 points, 10 rebounds) provided the firepower for Cleveland, which pulled to within two twice in the fourth quarter but could not get a lead.

CLASS 5A GIRLS

At Gill Coliseum 

Thursday’s quarterfinals

No. 9 Crescent Valley 48, No. 1 Willamette 45

Taelyn Bentley’s free throw with 11 seconds remaining broke a 45-45 tie, Charlotte Patel added two insurance free throws, and the upstart Raiders (20-7) knocked off the top-seeded Wolverines (25-2). 

Gabby Bland scored 12 points, Bentley finished with 10, and Nicole Huang contributed nine points with 10 rebounds to lead Crescent Valley. 

Brynn Smith notched 19 points and Maddy Warberg came off the bench to score 12 for Willamette. 

The Wolverines, who were outrebounded 49-28, trailed 39-27 entering the fourth quarter. 

No. 4 Ridgeview 53, No. 5 Corvallis 43

Kyrah Daniels poured in 33 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, and the Ravens (20-6) took over in the fourth quarter to escape against the Spartans (20-7). 

Faye Davis had seven points and Jenna Albrecht pitched in six for Ridgeview, which outscored Corvallis 20-10 over the final eight minutes. 

Taylor Brasfield scored 14 points and Sevennah Van De Riet had 10 to pace the Spartans. 

Corvallis launched 26 three-point attempts (seven made) in the loss. 

No. 11 Putnam 74, No. 3 Crook County 42

Maddie Olma (18), Emma McDonald (18), Rylee Lemen (15) and Riley Greenleaf (13) reached double figures in points, and the Kingsmen (20-6) cruised to an easy win over the Cowgirls (21-4). 

Kayla Kasubuchi added eight points, dished out six assists and grabbed four steals for hot-shooting Putnam. The Kingsmen hit 29 of 53 shots from the field, including seven three-pointers. 

Josie Kasberger led Crook County with 13 points and Emma Bales had 10 points to go with 11 rebounds in defeat. 

No. 7 Springfield 29, No. 2 Silverton 20

The Millers (20-7) used a strong inside game and a stifling defense to scratch out a low-scoring victory over the Foxes (21-5). 

Silverton shot 12.2% (5 of 41) from the field, connecting on only 2 of 24 three-point attempts and managing just two first-quarter points. 

Danaeja Romero-Ah Sam scored 14 points and Juju Henderson added six for Springfield, which finished with a 16-6 advantage in the paint. 

Kyleigh Brown had 10 points and pulled down eight rebounds, and Paige Traeger contributed five points for Silverton.

Thursday’s consolation games

No. 8 Ashland 74, No. 5 Crescent Valley 58

The Grizzlies (16-10) drilled 12 three-pointers and got balanced scoring in a comfortable victory over the Raiders (20-8). 

Izzy Golden (17 points), Toby Barnes (16, including five threes), Sebastian Stowasser (12 off bench) and Egan Shields (11) led the way for Ashland.

Cooper Wakefield scored 20 points, and Jake Leibelt (13) and Noah Dewey (12) also posted double digits for Crescent Valley. 

The Raiders held their own in the first and final quarters but were outscored 35-19 over the two middle periods. 

No. 6 Crater 58, No. 7 Eagle Point 53

Center Tate Broesder (16 points), Javon Smith (13) and Logan Price (12) went for double figures, and the Comets (22-6) closed the game on a 20-5 run to streak past the Eagles (18-9) in a showdown between Midwestern League teams. 

Brennen Neyt scored a game-high 17 points and Triston Mcguire added 13 points with seven boards to pace Eagle Point. 

The Eagles fell victim to 21 costly turnovers, leading to 27 points in aid of Crater’s comeback victory.

CLASS 4A GIRLS

At Marshfield HS 

Thursday’s quarterfinals

No. 1 Philomath 58, No. 8 Mazama 30

The top-seeded Warriors (20-4) raced to a 30-14 halftime lead and never looked back in a convincing win over the Vikings (16-9). 

Sage Kramer had 22 points and nine rebounds in 22 minutes, and Abigail Brown added 15 points to pace Philomath. 

Ella Baley scored 11 points, and Kennedy Lease and Adysen McGirr had five points each for Mazama. 

The Vikings committed 24 turnovers and missed 8 of 10 free throws in the loss. 

No. 13 Hidden Valley 41, No. 12 Marist Catholic 34

The Mustangs (15-10) used a 15-5 advantage from the free throw line and prevailed over the cold-shooting Spartans (16-8) despite 29 turnovers. 

Teryn Powers (11 points) was the lone scorer in double digits for Hidden Valley. Sana Noga added nine points, and Skylar Willey had eight points and collected eight rebounds to help the cause for the Mustangs. 

McKenna Henderson potted 10 points and Paige Doerr chipped in seven for Marist Catholic, which shot 25.5% from the field and never led. 

No. 11 Corbett 61, No. 3 Baker 46

The Cardinals (22-3) converted 20 forced turnovers into 23 points and led by 19 in a comfortable win over the Bulldogs (20-6). 

Allyson Schimel led all scorers with 23 points, Ella Holwege dropped in 15 points and swiped six steals, and Isabelle Van Hee also hit double digits with 14 points for Corbett. 

Jozie Ramos scored 21 points off the bench and Makenzie Flanagan chipped in seven points to go with nine rebounds to lead Baker. The Bulldogs fell behind early, missed 13 free throws and never held a lead. 

No. 7 Madras 69, No. 2 Cascade 60 (OT)

Sasha Esquiro put up a game-high 24 points, Rylan Davis had 13, Kalise Holliday and Lily Libokmeto added 10 apiece, and the White Buffaloes (16-8) dominated the overtime period to down the Cougars (19-4). 

Ariel Tobiasson had 18 points and six assists, and Meah Carley scored 12 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for Cascade. 

The Cougars committed 20 turnovers and allowed 15 steals in the loss.

Thursday’s quarterfinals

No. 1 Junction City 58, No. 9 Baker 47

Kaleb Burnett scored 30 points on 13-of-13 shooting, and the top-seeded Tigers (23-3) overcame an early nine-point deficit to down the Bulldogs (19-7). 

Burnett also grabbed 11 rebounds and Colby Evans pitched in 12 points as Junction City dominated inside (36-18 points in paint). 

Isaiah Jones (11 points), Jaxon Logsdon (10) and Hudson Spike (10) hit double figures for Baker, which trailed 29-23 after two quarters. 

No. 4 Seaside 62, No. 5 Philomath 61

Cash Corder drained a three-pointer with 11 seconds remaining, sending the Seagulls (20-6) past the Warriors (19-6) in a wild come-from-behind victory. 

In a fourth quarter that saw three ties and three lead changes, it was Corder’s fourth three-pointer of the game that proved the difference. 

Ever Sibony led all scorers with 25 points, Corder finished with 18, and Conner Langmo added 14 to provide all but five points for Seaside. 

Ty May went for 18 points and Cole Beardsley had 13 to lead Philomath. The Warriors led by 20 late in the first half before the Seagulls staged their comeback. 

No. 2 Cascade 66, No. 10 Stayton 41

Kellen Sande had a game-high 20 points, Samuel Horne scored 18, and the Cougars (20-3) won every quarter in an all-Oregon West Conference matchup with the Eagles (18-6). 

Dominic Ball added eight points, and Ty Best and Spencer Horne added seven each for Cascade. 

Garrett Callsen notched a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds, Gavin Berning scored six points, and Gabriel Wigginton chipped in five to lead Stayton. 

No. 11 Banks 62, No. 3 Marshfield 49

Wyatt Selleck scored 20 points, Ben Mayo had 19, and Banks (20-6) led by 17 points and never trailed in an impressive win over the Pirates (22-5). 

Cooper Gobel added 11 points and Charlie White pulled down 10 boards for Banks, which sank 24 free throws in the victory. 

Pierce Davidson recorded a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds, while Mason Ainsworth led Marshfield with 18 points. The Pirates struggled from the field, hitting 9 of 35 attempts from behind the arc and 15 of 62 shots overall.
