Here are the candidates for SBLive’s Oregon High School Team of the Week for Oct. 23-29 as nominated by coaches, fans and readers.

Baker football

The Bulldogs wrapped up the Class 4A Greater Oregon League championship by notching a 42-34 win at Pendleton in a district showdown. The victory gives Baker a 5-0 record in district play (5-4 overall). The Buckaroos finished second at 4-1. Baker senior quarterback Paul Hobson passed for 421 yards and four touchdowns and rushed for two more scores in the win.

Central Catholic football

The Rams finished their regular-season schedule by rolling to a 76-0 win over David Douglas in a Mt. Hood Conference finale at Hillsboro Stadium. Central Catholic finished regular season play at 9-0, outscoring opponents 477-81. Senior quarterback Cru Newman threw two touchdown passes and ran for two more scores in the win over the Scots.

Cottage Grove boys soccer

The Lions claimed the Sky Em League championship with a mark of 7-0-1 in league play (11-2-1 overall), putting them just ahead of second-place Marist Catholic, which had a league record of 6-1-1. Cottage Grove will open the Class 4A state playoffs with a home match Nov. 1.

Crescent Valley volleyball

The top-seeded Raiders rolled to a 25-5, 25-9, 25-9 win over Putnam in a Class 5A state playoff first-round match to advance to the state tournament. Junior outside hitter Bella Jacobson had 13 kills and five aces for Crescent Valley.

Glencoe boys soccer

The Crimson Tide, who got off to a 1-6-1 start to the season, notched a 2-0 win at Sherwood in a Pacific Conference finale to claim the conference championship. With the big win, Glencoe finished conference play at 4-1-1 (5-7-2 overall). McMinnville was second at 3-0-3, and the Bowmen finished third at 3-1-2. Junior forward Vincete Santoyo and freshman forward Lester Rivas had the goals for the Crimson Tide in the title-clinching win.

Grant girls soccer

The Generals powered their way to a 5-3 win over Lincoln in a Portland Interscholastic League finale at Lincoln High School. With the victory, Grant claimed the PIL championship with a league record of 5-0-1 (12-2-1 overall). Cleveland finished second at 4-0-2, and Lincoln was third at 4-1-1. Senior Abbie Day scored two goals for the Generals in the victory, and junior Paige Nakada, senior Maggie McGair and sophomore Nailani Solomon added one goal apiece.

Jesuit girls cross country

The Crusaders turned in a dominant performance in winning the championship at the Metro League district meet, held at the Tualatin Hills Park and Recreation District Center in Beaverton. Jesuit, which had five of the top seven finishers in the race, triumphed with a score of 19 points. Sunset was second at 41. Crusaders junior Emma Bennett was the individual district champion, winning the 5,000-meter race in a time of 17 minutes, 41.75 seconds.

The top-seeded Crusaders bested Jefferson 25-7, 25-13, 25-11 in a Class 6A state playoff first-round match, and then they defeated Grant 25-19, 25-18, 25-8 in a second-round contest to improve to 28-2 on the season while advancing to the Class 6A state tournament.

Lakeridge boys soccer

With the Three Rivers League title at stake, the Pacers posted a 5-1 win over rival Lake Oswego in a league showdown at Lake Oswego High School. With the victory, Lakeridge ended TRL play at a perfect 5-0 (13-1 overall). Senior Spencer Lovell had both a goal and an assist for the Pacers in the win. The Pacers then topped North Salem 6-0 in a Class 6A state playoff first-round contest.

Lincoln boys soccer

The Cardinals notched a 3-1 win over Grant in a Portland Interscholastic League finale at Delta Park to clinch the league championship with a 6-1 league record. Franklin finished second in the standings at 5-1-1. Junior Pablo Guevara had a goal and an assist for the Cardinals in the title-clinching victory. Lincoln then bested Beaverton 3-1 in a Class 6A state playoff first-round match.

McDaniel boys soccer

The Mountain Lions, who finished in seventh place in the final Portland Interscholastic League standings, opened the Class 6A state playoffs by getting a 4-3 win at previously unbeaten David Douglas in a first-round match. McDaniel improved to 7-8-1 with the victory.

Oakland football

The Oakers posted a 32-20 home win over Gold Beach to claim the Class 2A Special District 3 title at 7-0 (8-1 overall). Gold Beach finished in second place at 6-1. Junior running back Gabe Williamson had 25 carries for 216 yards and two touchdowns for Oakland in the showdown victory.

Oregon Episcopal School girls cross country

The Aardvarks claimed the title at the Class 3A/2A/1A district championships, held at Valley Catholic High School in Beaverton. Oregon Episcopal School topped the field with a score of 29 points. Valley Catholic was second at 78. Junior Lauren Tittel led the way for the Aardvarks, finishing second in the 5,000-meter race with her mark of 19 minutes, 0.7 seconds.

Pendleton boys soccer

The Buckaroos recorded a 3-1 win over La Grande in a Greater Oregon League match at Eastern Oregon University to clinch the league title with a 5-1 league record (9-3 overall). Senior Rene Ortega scored three first-half goals for Pendleton in the title-clinching victory.

Portland Christian volleyball

The Royals ran to a 25-18, 25-3, 25-10 win over Willamina in a Class 2A state playoff first-round match to improve to 18-1 and advance to the Class 2A state tournament. Portland Christian has lost only four sets this season.

Roosevelt boys soccer

The Roughriders – who have only five seniors on the varsity roster in Finn Bawden, Ze’ Tippett, Jesus Reynel-Moreno, Angel Hernandez-Flores and Jose Cifuentes-Otzoy – went 8-6-1 for regular-season play and qualified for the Class 6A state playoffs for just the third time in school history. Roosevelt opened the playoffs with a 2-1 win at South Medford in a first-round match.

Santiam volleyball

The Wolverines earned a 25-23, 25-16, 25-20 win over Clatskanie in a Class 2A state playoff first-round match at Santiam High School to earn their first berth in the state tournament quarterfinals since 2001.

Sherwood boys cross country

The Bowmen claimed the Pacific Conference district meet title by the slimmest of margins at the event held at the Tualatin Hills Park and Recreation District Center in Beaverton. Sherwood claimed the crown with a team score of 46 points. Forest Grove was second at 47. Junior Dylan Weniger helped the Bowmen take the title, as he was the individual winner of the 5,000-meter race with his time of 15 minutes, 40.5 seconds. 

St. Mary’s Academy volleyball

The Blues earned their first playoff win since 2013 in their first home playoff match since 2012, dispatching visiting McNary 25-20, 27-25, 25-13 in downtown Portland.

Summit boys cross country

The Storm shined with a dominant performance in winning the Intermountain Conference district championship at the meet held at Juniper Golf Course in Redmond. Summit, which had five of the top seven finishers in the race, took first place with a score of 21 points. Caldera was second at 71. Senior Noah Laughlin-Hall led the way for the Storm, running to victory in the 5,000-meter race in a time of 15 minutes, 25.0 seconds.

The Storm turned in an impressive performance in triumphing at the Intermountain Conference district championships, held at Juniper Golf Course in Redmond. Summit had a victorious team score of 25 points. Caldera was second at 45. The Storm also had the individual winner of the district meet in sophomore Eva Dicharry, who had a winning time of 18 minutes, 54.4 seconds, for the 5,000-meter race.

The Dalles girls cross country

The Riverhawks edged Crook County to claim the championship at the Tri-Valley Conference district meet, held at McIver Park. The Dalles finished in first place with a team score of 43 points. The Cowgirls placed second at 47. The Riverhawks were led by junior Alaina Casady, who was the individual district meet champion, winning the 5,000-meter race in a time of 19 minutes, 21.0 seconds.

Valley Catholic boys cross country

The Valiants ran to victory at the Class 3A/2A/1A District 1 championships, held at Valley Catholic High School in Beaverton. Valley Catholic took first place with a score of 36 points. Oregon Episcopal School was second at 57. Valiants senior Morgan Amano was the individual district champion, winning the 5,000-meter race in a time of 16 minutes, 29.7 seconds.

West Salem football

The Titans earned a 42-21 win at Sheldon in a Class 6A Special District 1 contest, jumping up in the OSAA rankings to No. 16 with the victory, giving the team the final spot in the Class 6A championship bracket. Junior quarterback Kaden Martirano passed for 243 yards and a touchdown and ran for two more scores for West Salem.

Westview volleyball

The Wildcats rallied to earn a 20-25, 21-25, 25-23, 27-25, 15-13 win at Sheldon in a Class 6A state playoff second-round match to advance to the Class 6A state tournament. Senior setter/right side Taylor Guerra had 26 digs, 19 assists, 10 kills, four aces and a block to help lead Westview to the victory.
