Here are the candidates for SBLive’s Oregon High School Team of the Week for Dec. 18-24 as nominated by coaches, fans and readers. 

Read through the nominees and cast your vote. Voting will conclude Sunday at 11:59 p.m.

Adrian girls basketball

The Antelopes triumphed at the Nyssa Christmas Tournament at Nyssa High School. Adrian opened the event with a 58-40 win over Payette, Idaho. The Antelopes downed Ontario 55-30 in the semifinals before beating Salmon River, Idaho, 53-44 in the title tilt. With the three wins, Adrian improved to 9-2.

Benson girls basketball

The Techsters stayed unbeaten, winning all three of their games to claim the championship of the Tundra Bracket at the Capitol City Classic at Corban University in Salem. Benson defeated McMinnville 70-52 and West Salem 82-42 before downing South Medford 68-58 in the championship contest. The Techsters, who improved to 4-0, received strong play from seniors Mahogany Chandler-Roberts, Eboni Clay and Mauriana Hashemian-Orr and sophomore Samarah Massey.

Centennial boys basketball

The Eagles soared to the championship at the Newberg Tournament at Newberg High School. Centennial opened the event with a 60-35 win over Aloha before topping McNary 55-47 in the title tilt. Sophomore Quentin Neal led the way for the Eagles in the win over the Celtics with 19 points.

Crater girls basketball

The Comets went 3-0 to soar to the championship at the Spartan Holiday Showcase at Corvallis High School. Crater opened the tournament with an 80-16 win over South Eugene. The Comets bested Lebanon 74-28 in the semifinals before topping Corvallis 54-39 in the title tilt. With the three wins, Crater improved to 7-1.

Dallas girls wrestling

The Dragons claimed the championship at the Battle in the Boro at Hillsboro High School. Dallas won the 16-team event with 229 points. Hillsboro was second with 201. The Dragons had four individual champions in Marissa McGinnin (105 pounds), Polly Olliff (110), Ivy McIntosh (120) and Jenna Rogers (145).

Forest Grove girls basketball

The Vikings claimed the White Bracket championship at the Nike Interstate Shootout at Lake Oswego High School. Forest Grove opened the tournament with a 54-42 win over South Albany. The Vikings topped McNary 62-31 in the semifinals before besting Westview 57-47 in the title tilt. Senior Emma Emerson scored 19 points for Forest Grove in the championship contest, and senior Lauren Buchanan added 18. The three wins improved the Vikings’ record to 6-0.

Grants Pass girls basketball

The Lady Cavers claimed the championship of the Camry Bracket at the Capitol City Classic at Corban University in Salem. Grants Pass bested Sprague 50-34 and Cascade 49-35 before topping South Salem 58-45 in the title tilt. Senior guard Brooke Anderson scored a total of 59 point in the three games for the Lady Cavers. Senior forward Brooklyn Wakefield had 45 points and 32 rebounds in the three contests.

Jefferson (3A) girls basketball

The Lions posted a 35-28 win at Colton and triumphed 50-43 at Creswell to improve their early-season win streak to nine games. Senior guard Amira Saad led the way for Jefferson in the victory at Creswell with 18 points. Junior guard Gretchen Orton added 15.

Lake Oswego girls basketball

The Lakers triumphed in the Navy Bracket at the Nike Interstate Shootout at Lake Oswego High School. The host team opened the tournament with a 74-21 quarterfinal win over Sandy. In the semifinals, Lake Oswego topped Redmond 47-45. In the title tilt, the Lakers edged Skyview, Wash., 40-37. With the three wins, Lake Oswego improved to 6-1.

McDaniel boys basketball

The Mountain Lions posted a 58-43 nonleague victory at Reynolds to snap a 43-game losing streak, which lasted almost exactly two years. McDaniel’s previous win was on Dec. 18, 2021, when it posted a 51-50 victory over Sunset at the Lakeridge tournament. Junior Asson Gelly led the way for the Mountain Lions in the win at Reynolds with 16 points. Senior Giovanni Lavert-Teeny added 13 points, three rebounds and three assists.

Newberg wrestling

The Tigers clawed their way to the championship at the Best of the West tournament at Pasco (Wash.) High School. Newberg took the top spot at the 22-team event with 295.5 points. Flathead, Mont., was second with 268.5. The Tigers boasted six individual champions in Isaac Hampton (126 pounds), Gavin Rangel (132), Zachary Keinonen (138), Brandon Smith (144), Dillon Le (150) and Gus Amerson (157).

Philomath wrestling

The Warriors triumphed at the Benton County Championships at Philomath High School. The host team claimed the top spot in the team standings with 191 points. Santiam Christian was second with 156. The Warriors had six individual champions in Lukas Hernandez (132 pounds), Porter Compton (138), Riley Barrett (150), JJ Lewis (175), Lake Mulberry (215) and Brady Russell (285).

Portland Christian boys basketball

The Royals posted a 65-25 home win against North Clackamas Christian in nonleague play, and they ran to a 78-43 home win against Perrydale to improve to 8-0. Portland Christian has outscored its eight opponents 630-261.

Redmond girls wrestling

The Panthers triumphed at the Lady Buffalo Invitational at Madras High School. Redmond topped the 20-team field with 200 points. Sweet Home was second with 177. The Panthers had four individual champions in Stella Davis (105 pounds), Gemma DeLance (110), Reina Barnes-Rubio (140) and MacKenzie Shearon (155).

Regis boys basketball

The Rams won the championship of the Regis Holiday Tournament at Regis High School. The Rams opened the tournament with a 74-54 win over Horizon Christian of Tualatin before topping St. Helens 65-36 in the championship contest.

Roosevelt boys basketball

The Roughriders won the championship at The Hardwood Invite at Parkrose High School. Roosevelt beat Oregon City 71-61, Camas, Wash., 82-70 and Smoky Hill, Colo., 64-58 in the semifinals before topping Eastlake Catholic, Wash., 70-68 in the championship contest. Senior guard Terrence Hill Jr. scored a team-high 23 points for the Roughriders in the title tilt. Junior guard Owen Nathan added 22 points, five assists and four rebounds.

Sutherlin girls wrestling

The Bulldogs stepped up to win the Rogue River Girls Holiday Classic at Rogue River High School. Sutherlin topped the nine-team field with 115.5 points. Lakeview was second with 74. Sutherlin had two individual champions in Emilija Singleton at 105 pounds and Kira Hunter at 135.

Tualatin boys basketball

The Timberwolves defeated nationally ranked Lincoln Park, Pa., 62-60 in the third-place game of the Capitol City Classic at Willamette University in Salem. Sophomore guard Jemai Lake scored a team-high 15 points and had a key 3-pointer and an assist in the final minute.

Willamina girls wrestling

The Bulldogs battled their way to the championship at the Rumble on the River at Riverside High School. Willamina had 80 points to get the victory in the 10-team event, edging second-place Riverside, which had 78. The Bulldogs had three individual champions in Zoe Brewster (110 pounds), Hannah Bates (115) and Paige Baker (190).

The Bulldogs claimed the team title at the Rumble on the River at Riverside High School. Willamina won the 13-team event with 199.5 points. Irrigon was second with 170. The Bulldogs had four individual champions in Eden Stanton (113 pounds), Kisor Savage (120), Adoniyah Stanton (126) and Rhyne Nelson (285).
