Canby boys swimming

The Cougars moved to 5-0 by notching a 103-67 win over Wilsonville in a Northwest Oregon Conference dual meet at the Canby Swim Center. Isaac Best triumphed in the 200-yard individual medley and 100 butterfly, and Kai Laitinen won the 500 freestyle and 100 breaststroke.

The Cougars picked up their fifth consecutive win in dominating fashion, improving to 5-0 in Northwest Oregon Conference dual meets with a 138-22 victory against Wilsonville at the Canby Swim Center. The Cougars had first-place finishes in all 11 races. Kali Mull triumphed in the 200-yard freestyle and 100 freestyle, Amanda Yancey won the 200 individual medley and 100 backstroke, and Karina Sawatsky was victorious in the 100 butterfly and 100 breaststroke.

Cascade Christian boys basketball

The Challengers sprinted to an 84-47 win over St. Mary’s of Medford in a Far West League showdown at Cascade Christian. Cascade Christian improved to 5-0 in league play and 8-5 overall. St. Mary’s moved to 4-1 in league play. Senior center Austin Maurer had 40 points, 16 rebounds and eight blocks for the Challengers.

Cleveland wrestling

The Warriors turned in a dominating performance, beating Jefferson 57-24 and getting a 73-6 win over Benson in a Portland Interscholastic League double dual match at Cleveland High School. Zachery Adams (120), Samuel Medford (126), Teagan Paxton (132), William Kingman (138), Max Copus (157) and Connor Smeller (190) each had one victory by fall.

Colton boys basketball

The Vikings moved to 11-1 overall and 3-0 in Tri-River Conference play by posting a 76-42 win over previously unbeaten Gervais in a conference game at Gervais High School. Sophomore guard Logan Roberts scored a team-high 17 points, and senior wing Logan Pierce added 16.

Forest Grove girls wrestling

The Vikings rallied from an early 12-0 deficit to notch a 44-24 win over Glencoe in a Special District 1 dual match at Forest Grove High School. Emelia Oppenlander (120 pounds), Renae Cook (130), Kailea Takahashi (135) and Alicia Rodriguez (170) won by fall.

Grants Pass wrestling

The Cavemen claimed the top spot at the Burton 5 Enterprises Invitational at Lebanon High School. Grants Pass won the 19-team event with 228 points. West Albany was second with 213.5. Mark Astry at 144 pounds and Bladimir Mendez-Chavez at 190 each won an individual tournament title to help lead the way for the Cavemen.

Jefferson (3A) girls basketball

The Lions picked up their 12th consecutive victory, improving to 12-1, by running to a 64-18 home win over Dayton in a PacWest Conference contest. Sophomore guard Aziza Saad led the way for Jefferson with 18 points. Junior guard Gretchen Orton added 16.

Lakeridge girls swimming

The Pacers recorded a 96-74 win over West Linn in a Three Rivers League dual meet at the Lake Oswego School District pool to improve to 3-0 in league meets. Junior Sydney Brandvold won the 200-yard individual medley and 100 freestyle in addition to swimming a leg on two victorious relay teams.

McDaniel wrestling

The Mountain Lions defeated Wells 57-15 and Roosevelt 52-27 to sweep a Portland Interscholastic League double dual match at McDaniel High School. Ford Morris at 113 pounds won both of his matches by fall to help lead the way for the Mountain Lions.

Mountainside girls wrestling

The Mavericks powered their way to a 60-12 victory over Sunset in a Special District 1 dual match at Mountainside High School. Rylee Grimes (110 pounds), Natalie Kawaguchi (120), Layla Morris (125), Kate Morgan (130), Maggie Cole (140) and Jayna Kulukulualani (170) each won by fall.

Newberg wrestling

The Tigers won the title in the Class 6A division at the Oregon Classic at the Deschutes County Fair & Expo Center in Redmond. Newberg went unbeaten at the dual match tournament, getting a 56-22 win over Roseburg in the finals. Isaac Hampton (128 pounds), Gavin Rangel (134), Zachary Keinonen (140), Brandon Smith (146), Gus Amerson (159), Luke Augustus (177), Zadek Bowlby (217) and Austin Phillips (287) won by fall in the victory over Roseburg.

North Eugene boys basketball

The Highlanders ran to an 83-64 win over Crater in a key Midwestern League game at North Eugene High School. With the victory, their 12th in the past 13 games, the Highlanders improved to 13-2 overall and 3-0 in league play. Senior wing India Mohiuddin scored a game-high 26 points.

Oakland boys basketball

The Oakers stayed perfect by getting a 64-40 win at Waldport in Valley Coast League action and besting Gold Beach 79-42 in a home league contest to move to 14-0. Junior guard Joseph Fusco had 16 points and nine assists in the win over Gold Beach. Junior post Gabe Williamson added 11 points and eight rebounds.

Phoenix boys swimming

The Pirates came away with a sweep, beating South Medford 164-124 and topping Cascade Christian 176-85 in a nonleague double dual meet at the Rogue Credit Union Community Complex in Medford. River Delco won the 100-yard breaststroke and 100 freestyle, Quin Davis triumphed in the 200 and 500 freestyle events, and Makaio Potts finished first in the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke.

Redmond girls basketball

The Panthers notched a 69-52 win at Summit and bested Caldera 67-49 at home to claim sole possession of first place in the Intermountain Conference at 3-0 (9-3 overall). Sophomore point guard Mylaena Norton scored a total of 45 points, with 10 3-pointers, and had 11 steals in the two victories.

Redmond wrestling

The Panthers won the championship in the Class 5A division at the Oregon Classic at the Deschutes Country Fair & Expo Center in Redmond, edging Dallas 33-32 in the title bout of the dual match tournament. Kyron Dodds, in the 287-pound match, got a 4-0 decision win to wrap up the title for Redmond.

Silverton girls basketball

The Foxes posted a 66-51 home win over South Albany and won 73-45 at West Albany in Mid-Willamette Conference play to move to 8-3 overall and 5-0 in conference games. Senior Kyleigh Brown scored a school-record 37 points in the victory against South Albany.

South Albany wrestling

The RedHawks edged Woodburn 40-36 in a Mid-Willamette Conference dual meet opener at South Albany High School. The score was tied at 36-36 going to the 285-pound match, where South Albany’s Chauncy Harris posted a 12-4 major decision victory to give the RedHawks the win. South Albany got wins by fall from Chet Shumaker (144) and Efran Ybarra (215).

Sweet Home wrestling

The Cowboys won the Class 4A crown at the Oregon Classic at the Deschutes Country Fair & Expo Center in Redmond. Sweet Home defeated Crook County 40-21 in the finals of the dual match tournament. Kyle Sieminski (122 pounds), Luke Rosa (159), Ashton Swanson (177), David Steagall (192) and Colton Bennett (287) won by fall against the Cowboys.

Thurston girls wrestling

The Colts battled their way to the championship at the Oregon Classic at the Deschutes County Fair & Expo Center in Redmond, getting a 45-33 win over La Grande in the title bout of the dual match tournament. Eily Asher (102 pounds), Rubie Winterburn (107), Kassidy Hadden (127), Gracie Buergey (132), Kristal Zamora (142), Emily Zerr (147) and Katelyn Dow (192) won by fall against the Tigers.

Western Christian girls basketball

The Pioneers earned a 58-29 win at Santiam and triumphed 53-6 at Kennedy in Tri-River Conference games to improve to 12-1 overall and 4-0 in conference play.

Westside Christian boys basketball

The Eagles soared to their 12th consecutive victory, posting a 69-31 win at Portland Adventist Academy in a Lewis & Clark League contest. Westside Christian moved to 12-3 overall and 3-0 in league contests. Senior Dak Hanzlik led the way for the Eagles with 24 points. Senior Will Ficker added 13 points.

Wilsonville girls basketball

The Wildcats picked up their seventh win in the past eight games and improved to 3-0 in Northwest Oregon Conference play by notching a 95-25 win at Milwaukie. Sophomore guard Gabi Moultrie scored a game-high 23 points. Junior Ciana Hockensmith added 18 points, and junior Audrey Counts had 11 points, six rebounds, four assists and four steals.
