Kyler Kasper, All-American Bowl wide receiver, commits to Oregon Ducks over Tennessee, others; Reclassifying into 2022 class
One of the top pass-catchers in the West region came off the board Easter Sunday.
Consensus four-star prospect Kyler Kasper, the highest-rated uncommitted wide receiver in the West region, found a home, announcing his commitment to the Oregon Ducks over Arizona State, Georgia, Iowa, Miami (Fla.), Notre Dame, Ohio State, Tennessee, UCLA and USC:
The 6-foot-5, 195-pound pass-catcher, out of Williams Field High School (Gilbert, Arizona), is rated the nation's No. 143 overall prospect and No. 18 wide receiver.
However, sources close to Kasper's recruitment confirm he is set to reclassify into the 2022 recruiting cycle and will be on the roster for the Ducks this fall.
On3Sports was the first to report his reclassification.
Kasper's recruitment was a hard-fought battle between Oregon and Tennessee, which was aided by the efforts of Long Beach Poly five-star quarterback Nico Iamaleava.
In the end, however, Dan Lanning and his coaching staff managed to keep its hot streak in tact.
Here's what On3Sports had to say about Kasper, who has already been tabbed as an All-American Bowl selection:
"Contested catch specialist with the ability to make eye-catching acrobatic grabs. A taller receiver at 6-foot-5, 195 pounds. A bouncy leaper with outstanding ball skills at the catch point. Regularly shows the ability to high-point and box out defenders in jump ball situations. A standout on the 7-on-7 circuit, which favors his skill set. Also an electric dunker and strong high-jumper. Has NFL bloodlines with his father Kevin spending a handful of seasons in the league as a receiver and kick returner. Needs to improve his on-field long speed and separation skills. Older for the class, turning 18 years-old shortly after his junior season."
That type of talent could go a long way in helping the program overcome the recruiting loss of class of 2022 Servite High School pass-catcher Tetairoa McMillan.
While Kasper is not projected to be a one-for-one replacement of McMillan, who flipped to Arizona late last year, his ability to high-point the football and be a contested catch/redzone target could fill that need for the Ducks.
