Brandon Baker, nation's No. 1 offensive tackle, making Nebraska Cornhuskers return trip this weekend

Mater Dei (California) five-star offensive tackle Brandon Baker is set to return to Lincoln this weekend

The Nebraska Cornhuskers seem to have generated some recruiting momentum under Matt Rhule.

And that trend is certain to continue this weekend during the program's annual spring game.

On Monday, Mater Dei (California) five-star offensive lineman Brandon Baker, the nation's No. 1 offensive tackle, announced he will be making a return trip to Lincoln for the event:

The 6-foot-5, 285-pound offensive tackle has had a busy travel itinerary of late.

Baker has visited Oregon, Penn State, USC, Colorado, Ohio State, Nebraska, Tennessee, Florida State and Georgia in the hopes of informing his eventual decision.

A return trip to Nebraska is significant, as Baker was on campus as recently as late March.

Still, Oregon is viewed by many as the team to beat, as the Ducks were once home to Baker's brother, Gary Baker.

Here's what 247Sports had to say, in part, about Baker as a prospect:

"Plays mad and it shows in the run game. Excellent drive blocker who looks to finish blocks to the ground. Displays impressive lateral quickness and range when required to pull or reach targets at the second level. ...Plays with consistent leg drive, especially once engaged. Play strength is good and combines with size to often overwhelm smaller, overmatched defenders. ...Pass-pro reps are promisingly natural and effective. Quite light-footed and body-controlled in pass pro. Hand placement also shows encouraging consistency in pass reps."

So, far Nebraska's 2024 recruiting class consists of three players: Rice Consolidated (Texas) four-star cornerback Roger Gradney, Elkhorn South (Nebraska) three-star offensive tackle Ashton Murphy and Klein Cain (Texas) three-star offensive tackle Gibson Pyle.
