Miami Hurricanes hosting mega recruiting weekend, featuring multiple 5-star recruits

A look at the top prospects headed to Miami this weekend

The Georgia Bulldogs and Ohio State Buckeyes are set to host massive recruiting weekends over the next couple of days, but the Miami Hurricanes may have them beat.

Mario Cristobal's program is hosting one of the best collections of talent we've seen in the entire 2024 recruiting cycle, featuring multiple five-star prospects.

Here's a look at the top recruits expected to be on campus* (and in many cases they've already arrived):

* A few 3-star recruits are not listed below

5-star EDGE Colin Simmons (Duncanville; Texas) - Arguably the best edge-rusher in the entire country, Colin Simmons is listed as the nation's No. 5 overall prospect.

The 6-foot-3, 225-pound defender has summer visits scheduled to Miami (June 9), Alabama (June 16), Oregon (June 20), Texas (June 23), Texas A&M (July 26) and Florida (to be determined).

5-star CB Ellis Robinson IV (IMG Academy; Florida); Committed to Georgia - Ellis Robinson IV, a long-time Georgia pledge, is rated the nation's No. 4 overall prospect and No. 1 cornerback in the 2024 class.

He is coming off an official visit to Georgia, so the trip to Miami could be significant.

If - and it's a big if - he were to flip, it would be the second-biggest change-of-heart this cycle, behind only Pinnacle (Arizona) five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola de-committing from Ohio State and later choosing Georgia.

5-star DL David Stone (IMG Academy; Florida) - One of the top overall recruits in America, and arguably the nation's top defensive line prospect, David Stone has indicated he is sky high on Michigan State and Oklahoma for months.

Could another school firmly enter the mix?

Miami will take its shot this weekend.

5-star DL Dylan Stewart (Friendship Collegiate Academy; Washington D.C.) - Dylan Stewart is rated the nation's No. 1 overall prospect by On3 and sits anywhere from No. 13 to No. 30 on the other recruiting sites.

Still, there's little debate he's a potential star.

The 6-foot-6, 240-pound defender visited Georgia last weekend and will visit South Carolina next week.

5-star DL Aydin Breland (Mater Dei; California) - Aydin Breland's stock has skyrocketed in recent months to the point that he's listed as the nation's No. 6 overall prospect by 247Sports

West Coast programs are desperate to keep him home, as elite defensive lineman are hard to find on that side of the country, but Miami and others are making a major push.

Breland has official visits scheduled to Texas A&M (June 2), Miami (June 9), Georgia (June 16) and Oregon (June 23).

4-star RB Jerrick Gibson (IMG Academy; Florida) - It's an IMG Academy party on the Miami campus this weekend, as Gibson is one of several IMG players visiting this weekend.

The nation's No. 2 running back has June official visits to Georgia, Miami, Tennessee and Texas - with the Longhorns rumored to be the favorites.

4-star DL LJ McCray (Mainland; FloridaI - The nation's No. 14 defensive lineman is still weighing his options and has scheduled all five official visits - with Florida, Miami, Auburn, Georgia and Florida State earning trips.

McCray remains very open in his recruitment and a big official visit by any of his hosts could prove to be a major boost to their effort.

This month will be crucial.

4-star WR Braylon Staley (Aiken; South Carolina) - A top-20 wide receiver nationally, Braylon Staley is considering a handful of ACC and SEC schools.

One school that has suddenly lost its luster? Clemson.

After adding Bryant Wesco recently, Clemson is full at wide receiver and Staley must look elsewhere.

That opens the door significantly for Miami, as Staley was arguably a slight Clemson lean prior to that development.

4-star TE Elija Lofton (Bishop Gorman; Nevada) - Miami has the nation's No. 28 recruiting class (and rising fast), but still don't have a tight end in the fold.

With the overwhelming majority of elite tight ends already locked in, Elija Lofton could fit the bill for the Canes.

The nation's No. 16 tight end is talent in his own right, but also checks one of Cristobal's "added value" boxes - he's from a powerhouse program (Bishop Gorman).

Building a pipeline to one of the West's top programs while also adding a top-20 tight end would be a win-win for Miami.

Can the Hurricanes make it happen? This weekend will be key.

4-star OL TJ Lindsey (IMG Academy; Florida) - A highlight coveted, versatile offensive line target with nearly 40 scholarship offers, TJ Lindsey recently transferred to IMG Academy.

Last year, that was almost a dead giveaway that a Miami commitment was coming (see: Riley Williams. Jayden Wayne).

Could that trend be continuing in 2024?

We'll see.
