Florida State flipping Miami 5-star commit? Armondo Blount arrives for visit

The Florida State Seminoles are hosting a big-time collection of key recruits this weekend.

But none more noteworthy than Miami Central (Florida) five-star defensive lineman Armondo Blount.

On Saturday, he tweeted that he had arrived in Tallahassee:

The 6-foot-4, 260-pound defender is rated the nation's No. 6 overall prospect and No. 2 defensive lineman in the class of 2025 and has been committed to the Miami Hurricanes for just over a month. 

But the buzz of an imminent flip is growing.

Both On3 and 247Sports now project Blount to flip to the Seminoles. 

That all starts with this weekend's trip - and the five-star is on campus.

What would the 'Noles be getting in Blount?

A highly-productive pass-rusher, for starters.

As a freshman, Blount registered 13 sacks and followed up that performance with 16 during his sophomore campaign last fall.

Here's what 247Sports had to say, in part, about him as a prospect:

"A rosy defensive line prospect with a rare blend of twitch, power and bend. Not only owns elite throwing markers, but has tested in the upper percentile for his age. ...Wins from both the inside and the outside. ... Active, heavy hands allow him to fight off blockers while a flexible lower half makes it easy for him to find leverage. Tends to bring plenty of energy each snap and isn’t one that’s looking to bail on a rush. Does a favorable job of keeping his eyes in the backfield and seems to understand gap discipline. However, is likely only going to get better as a run defender once he adds more mass. ...Will need to keep progressing, but should be viewed as one of the top overall prospects in the 2025 cycle given his early body of work and a potential difference-maker at the Power Five level." 

Overall, Florida State's 2025 recruiting class has two early commitments so far - Mandarin (Florida) quarterback Tramell Jones Jr. and Eau Gallie (Florida) wide receiver DL Hardison.

Blount would immediately become the class headliner, and would be difficult to top through the entire cycle.
