Top uncommitted prospect down to Colorado, UCLA, expecting Deion Sanders for in-home visit

Woodward Academy (Georgia) safety CJ Heard has set a commitment date

Woodward Academy (Georgia) safety CJ Heard, a former Florida State Seminoles pledge, is officially down to the Colorado Buffaloes and UCLA Bruins.

And the nation's top uncommitted safety has several big events coming in next few days.

First up is a Wednesday in-home visit with Colorado coach Deion Sanders.

"Can't ask for nothing better than that," Heard said. "I'm fired up. Me and my family are excited."

"Coach Prime is going to win now. Who wouldn't want to play for Prime Time?"

Even before Sanders meets with the Heard family, the 5-foot-11, 193-pound defensive back knows what stands out about the Buffs.

"The experience they have on the coaching staff... many former NFL players," Heard said. "Then you got Deion Sanders, the best (defensive back) to ever play the game. I play DB. Who wouldn't want to get coached by Deion? Coach (Kevin) Mathis (is a) cool dude, played many years in the league."

Over the weekend, Heard will take a final visit to UCLA to check out the Bruins.

"UCLA stands out to me because they're making it known that I'm a priority to them," he said. "They want me and have a great plan for me. Coach (Brian) Norwood is a really cool guy. General manager Darren Uscher is my guy. We go way back. UCLA is an all-around school with the academics, location and good football."

So, what is he looking to see during his trip?

"You know when you wan t be somewhere," he said. "! I just want to get that feeling that this is home."

Whether that feeling comes to Heard hanging with Sanders early in the week or during his trip to Los Angeles, fans of the Buffaloes and Bruins won't know for a little longer.

Heard said he will announce his college commitment February 8 at 6:30 p.m. ET/3:30 p.m. PT.
