As part of our end-of-season all-state awards, SBLive will recognize the top players and coaches around the state in Texas high school basketball for their phenomenal performances during the 2021-22 season.

The following standout student-athletes have been named finalists for SBLive’s Texas High School Boys Basketball 6A Player of the Year, which honors the state’s most valuable player on the court in Class 6A.

SBLive Player of the Year award winners and all-state teams for 1A-6A and private schools will be released in late March after the end of the Texas high school basketball playoffs.

Finley Bizjack (Trophy Club Byron Nelson) — 25.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.8 steals, 43.1% FG in 30 GP

Anthony Black (Duncanville) - Black was named 6A State Tournament MVP after leading the Panthers to their third consecutive state title

Ray De Leon (Edinburg Economedes) — 27.6 points, 10.4 rebounds, 5.3 assists, 4.7 steals, 3.7 blocks, 65.7% FG, 60.4% 3PT in 37 GP

Zuby Ejiofor (Garland) — 21.4 points, 13.2 rebounds, 4.0 blocks, 1.8 steals, 1.3 assists, 61.9% FG in 25 GP

Chris Johnson (Fort Bend Elkins) — 19.5 points, 5.0 assists, 4.7 rebounds, 1.5 steals, 40.6% FG in 35 GP

Tre Johnson (Lake Highlands) — 23.8 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.6 steals in 35 GP

KyeRon Lindsay (Denton Guyer) — 23.4 points, 11.6 rebounds in 33 GP

Austin Nunez (San Antonio Wagner) — 28.1 points, 6.2 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 2.0 steals, 45.1% FG in 27 GP

Jaylon Pritchett (San Antonio Jay) — 29.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.5 steals, 1.7 assists, 43.8% FG in 33 GP

Cason Wallace (Richardson) — 21.6 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 1.2 blocks, 1.0 steal 64.3% FG in 26 GP


Ja’Kobe Walter (McKinney) — 24.7 points, 7.4 rebounds, 2.4 steals, 2.0 assists in 33 GP
