The Lions, however, exceeded their lofty expectations on a rainy morning at Red & Charline McCombs Field. Junior pitcher Ava Brown led the way in the circle while an offensive onslaught helped Lake Creek beat Prosper Rock Hill 8-2 in their Class 5A state semifinal matchup.

The victory marks the Lions' 39th consecutive win and sends them to the 5A state championship game for the first time in school history.
