Texas UIL state track and field meet 2023: Every 1A, 6A high school champion, medalist

Houston Strake Jesuit multi-sport standout Jace Posey repeated as UIL 6A state high jump champion with a 7-foot final jump on Saturday.

The TCU basketball signee and SBLive Texas 6A state basketball player of the year finalist is a repeat 6A track champion. In 2022, his 7-foot, 4 1/4-inch personal best set a 6A high jump record that hadn't been touched in 18 years.

Posey is one of the many track stars securing state championships on the final day of the UIL state meet Saturday as 1A and 6A classifications take center stage at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin, which faced weather-related delays Saturday.

Competitions were paused for a weather delay Saturday morning and resumed around 1 p.m. Central time and running events have been postponed a half hour and will tentatively start at 4:30 p.m., according to the UIL.
