SBLive's Washington Top 25 high school boys basketball rankings, final: Garfield ends where it started at No. 1

With WIAA regional-round play starting today, the best teams in the state are geared up to try and win a state championship.

Here are the final Top 25 all-classification boys basketball rankings in Washington (records as of Feb. 21):

1. Garfield (21-2) - 3A

Still a favorite to win Class 3A title despite troubles with Eastside Catholic down the stretch.

2. Federal Way (22-2) - 4A

Eagles dropped to the No. 4 seed for state tournament, but easy to see a state run happening for Federal Way.

3. Mount Si (23-2) - 4A

Mount Si and the Tacoma Dome in March is a regular thing at this point and the Wildcats look ready for another go.

4. Curtis (24-3) - 4A

Defending champs have returned to form since a regular-season loss to Olympia, beating the Bears twice this postseason.

5. Mount Spokane (22-1) - 3A

Earned the Class 3A top seed and besides Eastside Catholic, the Wildcats pose maybe the biggest threat to Garfield.

6. Olympia (20-5) - 4A

Two postseason losses to Curtis hurt the Bears, but they can hang with the best and will surely bounce back.

7. Gonzaga Prep (21-3) - 4A

Bullpups have a shot to redeem themselves from a blowout regular-season loss to Federal Way this week.

8. Mountlake Terrace (18-5) - 3A

Hawks made a statement with dominant win over Arlington for district title and now get another chance to make another against Eastside Catholic.

9. Eastside Catholic (18-8) - 3A

The run the Crusaders have been on lately has been nothing short of spectacular with two wins over Garfield.

10. Bellevue (21-4) - 3A

Wolverines stumbled through district tournament and now have to win one more to punch ticket to Tacoma.

11. Auburn (19-5) - 3A

Trojans have already secured their spot in Tacoma, but could be sitting pretty if they can pull out a win against O'Dea.

12. O'Dea (18-8) - 3A

Fighting Irish got a little beat up by the Metro League with league and district tournament, but still came close to SeaKing title.

13. Tahoma (19-5) - 4A

Notched a top-eight seed to automatically advance to the Tacoma Dome, but Bears will have work cut out for them against Mount Si.

14. Gig Harbor (21-3) - 3A

Came oh-so-close to district title, losing by a single point, but Tides still need one more win to make it to Tacoma.

15. Timberline (18-5) - 3A

Blazers found their stride at the start of the year and squeezed their way into a top-eight seed and guaranteed trip to the Tacoma Dome.

16. Skyline (19-5) - 4A

Spartans were upset in district tournament to fall short of title game, but still take the No. 6 seed in state tournament.

17. Richland (21-3) - 4A

Bombers get a protected game this weekend as the No. 8 seed, but they did draw No. 1 seed Curtis.

18. Pullman (23-0) - 2A

The only undefeated team in the Class 2A tournament, the top-seeded Greyhounds are after first place after falling short a year ago.

19. Anacortes (21-2) - 2A

With the Northwest Conference and District 1 championship in the bag, Anacortes now looks to playing spoiler to Pullman's title hopes.

20. Lynden Christian (22-2) - 1A

Can shoot the lights out at any given moment and if that happens the rest of the 1A field is in some trouble.

21. Zillah (22-1) - 1A

One of the few teams in the 1A tournament that can give Lynden Christian a run for its money.

22. Camas (17-7) - 4A

Papermakers have been playing a good brand of basketball lately, but will have to figure out a way to hang with top seeds.

23. Arlington (18-5) - 3A

Eagles faltered a bit toward the end of the regular season and in district championship game.

24. Rainier Beach (14-9) - 3A

Vikings have the benefit of playing in the toughest league in the state on their side as they head into regional play.

25. Union (18-6)

Titans put an end to Kentridge's season in districts. How much is left in the tank with the Tacoma Dome looming?
