National top 25 high school wrestling rankings for every weight class (2/15/2024)

Iowa, Colorado, Georgia and Illinois wrap up their state tournaments this week

We are coming down to the wire for the 2023-2024 high school wrestling season. A few states had their state championships last week, but this week brings more than ten, plus the National Prep qualifiers, which are essentially private school state championships for those entities.

Iowa got underway on Wednesday. Colorado, Georgia, and Illinois kicked off their affairs on Thursday.

The rest of the batch gets underway on Friday, with all concluding on Saturday. Some of the states beginning on Friday are Indiana, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and Washington. Utah’s small schools had their states last week. The large schools take the mats this weekend.

Four of the more competitive states on the national level are one step away from their state tournaments next weekend. California is holding its Masters. Missouri is in the District stage. Oklahoma is holding Regions and Wisconsin is competing in the sectionals.

Florida, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania are in the early stages of their post season run.

Interestingly some states, including Illinois, will have their dual meet state championships after the individual process ends. It’s a cool twist that keeps the whole team involved until the very end of the season instead of some falling off as they work their way to the individual state tournament.
