SBLive/Sports Illustrated Power 25: Bishop Gorman's Nevada state championship streak ends at nine

Check out our latest Power 25 national high school boys basketball rankings, sponsored by Discount Tire

Bishop Gorman's season-long quest for a record 10th consecutive Nevada 5A state championship ended in heartbreaking fashion on Saturday.

The No. 16 Gaels lost to Liberty (Nev.) in overtime, 63-62, after senior Ryan Abelman's 3-pointer at the buzzer fell short, ending the program's legendary run of state titles one shy of a national record.

Gorman becomes the latest Power 25 program to fall short of a state title, thus eliminating itself from contention for a State Champions Invitational bid in early April.

Gorman was among several teams that moved slightly in our latest SBLive/Sports Illustrated Power 25 national high school boys basketball rankings.
