Andre Korbmacher, Florida State signee, finishes 'special' high school track career with state hurdles record
TACOMA, Washington — Andre Korbmacher has a knack for breaking records when he visits Mount Tahoma High School, the long-standing home for the Washington state track meet.
Small sample size? Sure. But just consider his last two trips.
The pink-haired track prodigy set a 110 hurdles record in the Class 3A state meet in both the preliminary round and final. He broke that same 110 hurdles meet record again in a Thursday prelim with a 13.83.
Then, the Squalicum phenom and Florida State signee usurped that again Friday with another record-setter — 13.74 — to easily repeat as 2A state champion.

"I had a rocky indoor season and being able to win state again," Korbmacher said. "To set a state meet record, it feels special to end my senior year with a bang."
He wasn't the only one to knock down state meet records Friday. Capital's Hanna Moll, the top pole vaulter in the country, did the same with a 3A title-winning 14-07.
As a junior, Korbmacher won individual state titles in the 4x100, 300 hurdles and the 110 hurdles, which he did in a meet-record 13.83, and also finished second in the 4x400.
I knew with it being a good race yesterday that it was going to be an even better race today," Korbmacher said. "Being able to break the state record twice in a meet ... being able to do it again is awesome."
Admittedly, Korbmacher's winter indoor season and much of his spring have been spent rehabilitating a hamstring injury. So instead of four events at state, his entire focus went toward the 110 hurdles.
"It felt easier, just being able to lock in to (one race)," Korbmacher said.
"Being able to come back and win again was just awesome."
