Congratulations to San Antonio O'Connor softball second baseman Jada Munoz for being voted SBLive’s Texas High School Athlete of the Week for May 30-June 5!

The McNeese State signee finished the 6A state softball tournament going 3-for-7 with five RBIs, three runs scored, and two home runs. Munoz was the only player at any classification level with multiple home runs at the state tournament this year, including her game-tying home run in the seventh that led O'Connor to a 7-6 comeback win over Mansfield Lake Ridge for the 6A state title.

Munoz received 52.51% of the vote, beating out Hallettsville's Carson Jansky who finished second with 20.55%. San Antonio Reagan's Jacob King finished third with 13.47% and Crawford's Kenzie Jones finished fourth with 11.18%.

Here are the other athletes who were nominated for May 30-June 5:

Ava Brown, Montgomery Lake Creek: The Florida commit tossed 14 innings with 17 strikeouts, two earned runs and no extra-base hits allowed in the circle during state-championship weekend. Brown was also 5-for-8 at the plate with two doubles and three RBIs. With her dominant performance at the plate and in the circle, the Lions' junior ace led Lake Creek to its first softball state title in program history with a 7-0 win over Georgetown in the 5A state title game.

Kamdyn Chandler, Liberty: The sophomore pitcher threw a complete-game shutout to lead Liberty to a 5-0 win over Sweeny for the 4A softball state championship.

Carson Jansky, Hallettsville: Jansky, the 3A state championship game MVP, had one hit and two RBIs to lead Hallettsville to a 6-5 win over Coahoma to claim their first softball state championship in school history.

Kenzie Jones, Crawford: The senior pitcher tossed a complete-game shutout with five strikeouts to lead Crawford to their fourth softball state title in program history with a 3-0 win over Lovelady in the 2A state championship game.

Mabry Herrmann, D'Hanis: The 1A state championship game MVP had three hits, two runs scored, and an RBI to lead the Cowgirls to a 6-2 win over Hermleigh to claim the 1A state title.

BASEBALL

Jayden Martinez, London: Martinez hit a game-tying two-run home run to give London a 4-3 win over Bishop in game three of the Region IV-3A baseball final.

Andon Petty, Georgetown: Petty ripped a walk-off single in the 10th inning to lift Georgetown over Sharyland Pioneer 2-1 to claim the Region IV-5A championship.

Braeden Brown, Sinton: Brown went 2-for-3 with an RBI double to help Sinton beat rival Calallen 3-1 to advance to the 4A state tournament.

Baylor Baumann, Rockwall Heath: The senior pitcher threw a complete-game no-hitter to lead Rockwall Heath to a 6-0 win over rival Rockwall in game one of their best-of-three Region II-6A championship series. Rockwall-Heath went on to win the regional championship series to advance to the 6A state championship tournament.

Jacob King, San Antonio Reagan: The St. Mary’s commit batted .440 with three RBIs and stole two bases in the regional championship series against Lake Travis. With the series win, San Antonio Reagan is headed to the state tournament for the first time since 2017.
