Texas (UIL) high school baseball state 2023: Everything you missed in championship round
ROUND ROCK, Texas — The Texas high school baseball season is now complete after the final three championship games wrapped up on Saturday.
Out of more than 600 teams around the state that reached the playoffs with state championship dreams, 24 of the Lone Star State's top teams advanced through the regional finals to state championship week in Round Rock and Austin.
Three titles were crowned on Thursday and Friday — 1A, 2A and 4A — and the final three title games took place Saturday at Dell Diamond in Round Rock. Archives of all the games can be found on the NFHS Network (subscription required).

6A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP
Final: Flower Mound 6, Pearland 4

--With the bases loaded, Caden Ferraro grounded out into first. Flower Mound slams the door shut, wins the 6A state title.
--Pearland stays alive. Senior catcher Jace Caceres popped a line drive into the left-center gap, driving home Braeden Morse to pull within two with two outs in the top of the seventh and runners on first and second. (Flower Mound 6-4 — top 7th)

6A semifinal: Pearland Oilers 11, Austin Westlake Chaparrals 1
Pearland's bats got going and didn't look back as it punched its ticket to the Texas (UIL) 6A state championship game on Friday. The Oilers put up four runs in the third and blew the game open in the fifth inning en route to an 11-1 win over Austin Westlake in the semifinals on Friday at Dell Diamond in Round Rock.

HOW FLOWER MOUND GOT HERE
Final: Flower Mound Jaguars 6, Cypress Woods Wildcats 3
TCU commit Zack James wasn't supposed to start in the Texas (UIL) Class 6A state semifinals on Friday in Round Rock. But he got the call and went the distance, throwing a complete game to help Flower Mound upend Cypress Woods 6-3.
5A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP
Final: Magnolia West 3, Argyle 2
By the grace of Jackson Blank's glove, Magnolia West is hoisting its first state baseball trophy. With two runners on and two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Blank's out-stretched effort reeled in right-center field reeled didn't just preserve the Mustangs' 3-2 win over Argyle in the Texas (UIL) Class 5A state baseball championship at Dell Diamond in Round Rock.

Final: Boyd 6, Wall 4
Boyd's bats put it way out ahead, but its defense came through to secure its first state championship in program history. The Yellowjackets fended off Wall 6-4 to win the Texas (UIL) Class 3A state baseball championship at Dell Diamond on Saturday.
Road to the 3A title:
3A semis: Boyd def. Maypearl 8-7
Aidan LeMasters ripped a walk-off two-RBI line drive into the outfield to lift Boyd to its first state title appearance in program history.
3A semis: Wall def. Corpus Christi London 5-1
Wall allowed just two hits and rode a five-inning relief outing from Kellan Oliver to a 5-1 win over defending champ Corpus Christi-London in the Texas (UIL) 3A state semifinals on Friday.
CLASS 4A
China Spring def. Liberty-Eylau 3-2

In the end, China Spring refused to run out of gas. The day after beating nationally ranked Sinton in a Class 4A state record 12-inning semifinal, the Cougars outlasted Texarkana Liberty-Eylau 3-2 on a walk-off walk in another 12-inning bout to win the state championship on Thursday night at UFCU Disch Falk.

Harleton def. Shiner 10-5

Not even a lengthy weather delay was going to deter Harleton’s goal of winning its first baseball state title. The Wildcats scored six runs in the top of the second and then endured a delay of nearly two hours to remain in control of Thursday’s UIL Class 2A championship game

CLASS 1A
Abbott def. Fayetteville 6-5

Abbott appeared to be well on its way to a decisive win in the Class 1A championship. Fayetteville, though, made the Panthers sweat things out until literally the very last pitch. It was on that last pitch, however, and thanks to relief pitcher Riley Sustala's efforts, when Abbott was able to finally dogpile one another.
