Grayson Girls Blast Lowndes 66-25 to Reach First-Ever State Championship

Rams held Vikings to lowest scoring output in more than 18 years

ATLANTA, GA -- For the first time in program history, the Grayson girls basketball team is headed to the state championship.

After bucking a slow start, the Rams routed Lowndes 66-25 Saturday night at the Georgia State Convocation Center in the Class 7A state semifinals to reach their first-ever state championship game.

They were led by standout guard Danielle Carnegie, who scored a game-high 25 points, matching the entire Vikings' scoring output for the game.

The Vikings' 25 points is their lowest in a game in more than 18 years.

A slow start to the game saw the Rams losing four minutes into the game. But by the end of the first quarter, the Rams led by nine points, and they never looked back from there.

By halftime, they led by 19, and by the fourth quarter, they led by 37.

With the win, the Rams will face North Paulding in the Class 7A state championship game next Saturday night. The Rams beat the Wolfpack 75-39 in early December.
